Stay away for LG and Samsung and any of their underlining companies.

NOT a Samsuck. I have a 1992 Whirlpool as a beer fridge that I’d bring inside to replace the Samsung POS if it looked a little nicer. Sits under my patio, not missing a beat.

I’m somewhat in the same boat. My garage beer refrig died recently (1999 KitchenAid and it was given to me) and I’m missing it more than I thought, so I’m going to move my black 2005 Whirlpool side by side with ice maker (only worked on once about a decade + ago when the ice maker needed replacing) to the garage as a beer/overflow frig and I’ve decided I’ll replace it with another Whirlpool side by side, stainless steel this time, I’m just trying decide what model now but it will likely be basic with minimal bells and whistles.
I’m just going to say I’ve never had issues with any Whirlpool kitchen/laundry appliance I’ve owned and I fully anticipate that any Whirlpool I buy now won’t last as long as those I’ve bought in the past.
Based on reading this board for years, I would definitely not buy a LG or Samsung, nor could I bring myself to buy a Frigidaire or GE as a primary, but for an extra/spare/overflow I might.

DO NOT buy the basic Frigidaire. It is a total piece of shite.

I have had a Samsung for nearly a decade and it has been great.

I have the 2019 version of this and I love it
In door water spout and bottom ice dispenser. You can adjust most of the door shelves and the drawers.
No real bells and whistles and I’m happy with that.

We have the 2009-ish version of the same model with no issues to date.

We had a Samsung microwave repaired in-house under warranty by an independent repair shop. While chatting with him as he worked he said they work on all brands but Samsung and LG literally keep them in business. I asked what he recommends on the other end of the spectrum and he said Whirlpool and all it's variants.
ETA: turned out the Samsung microwave was irreparable due to a bad design and because it was under warranty we had the option to replace it with anther of the same model or something else. We bought a Whirlpool.

I'd steer you the Whirlpool way. Since it's not your primary fridge try their lower end Amana side by side with ice/water dispenser.

Ha - the guy that fixed my Samsung dryer said the same thing. My son just replaced his Samsung refrigerator yesterday with a Whirlpool. I don't think it was older than 5 years old. I've got all Whirpool kitchen appliances. Had to replace the heating element on the range and the pump motor on the dishwasher but I was able to do both repairs myself pretty quickly and inexpensively.

Add on to the Samsung sucks!
Replaced our Samsung fridge with a Kenmore. The fridge part of the Samsung is fine but the freezers freezes over every 2-3 months. Tired of defrosting the thing. I'm going to try to sell it for whatever I can get. It's about 5 years old.

We had one like this in my old house and we liked it. Looking to actually replace our current one with something similar.
Don't need all the bells and whistles and frankly find too much issues with both the in the door ice maker(tendency to freeze up), or in the fridge ice maker(takes up too much fridge space ). Would rather have less freezer space since we have a chest freezer

I will NEVER buy another Samsung appliance. I have had brittle plastic pieces breaking off the mullion, storage compartments and ice maker in my refrigerator. Ice maker leaks and makes chunks of ice that jam the damn thing. Clumps of ice crack the plastic parts. Paid a sh*tload of money for cheap plastic. Others I spoke to about this have similar complaints. Stay away from Samsung and LG as well. Both are crap.
