My vote is for the biggest Hustler you can afford.
They all have welded decks. Kawasaki or Kohler power.
I think you could get into a good one for $5k or so.

The diesel cost a lot more than the gas.
I paid like $11.5 for mine. It was new but was a 2019 model.
I think you can test drive them at most dealers.
I suspect several companies make front deck machines--grasshopper is just the one I got.
It is very nice. The advantages of a front deck are real.
