McShay has him as a 1st round pick
Is he one of the best LBs in the nation?

He definitely got the skills to be 1st rounder we will see tho hes got to have a good season kind of like Jabril had to

They really put McShay’s 2022 mock draft behind a paywall?

What are his reasons for leaving Clemson?

He's an elite cover linebacker which is what the NFL definitely wants in today's game.
Jabril Cox was also a really good cover linebacker but his stock tanked some playing on such a bad defense and missing pro day probably. I think if Cox came a year earlier in 2019 and started he could have been a 1st or 2nd rounder.
It's not very easy these days though to go 1st round as a (non pass rush) linebacker though.

He was only playing part-time not full time last year. They had a 5-star freshman who started to play more as season went along (And I think Jones got hurt as well). I think he was transferring because he wants to be a starter not splitting reps so much. I think they saw him more as just a cover guy to put there on pass down than every down. Which admittedly he was way better against the pass than the run.
Only like 43% of his snaps were against the run, while teams ran the ball on Clemson 56% of the time.

Jones is probably going to play more Backer/Safety hybrid, known as the Rover or Star in some defenses Reminds me a lot of Jabril

I think pretty much everything ESPN puts out is now behind a paywall. Talk about a shite organization. They completely ruined a good thing. Seems like there would be an opportunity for a new sports network to enter the market that's actually devoted to sports

Exactly, so NOT a first rounder. Maybe late second at the most but more likely third.

Didnt they have him in that Isaiah Simmons role too? Very non traditional.

As a guy that lives in the Clemson area, has a Clemson wife, Ive watched a ton of his games.
I’ll say this.... we will be happy to have him.
All of my Clemson friends who actually understand the game....hated loosing him, even more so to us.
He’s more athletic than Cox, and got some pop to him. They used him like they did with Simmons, he felt he should have been a every down LB.
Because of the success of the last several years they have recruited on a high level and they play alot of players. That schedule usually meant early big leads thus lots of rotating.
He wants to be the man.
We will see.... but I like him!
