Because a beer buzz is ok once in a while but I don't like being drunk anymore. I used to love it and used to ask myself the same question as OP. Course, I was an alcoholic.

An ice cold Jucifer or 2 after doing outside work gives me a nice mild relaxing buzz. It tastes great too. You young guys who are forcing down cheap beers just to get drunk wouldn't understand.
