How much time is needed to enjoy the park? A few hours or half a day type of trip?

If they still do the laser show, you need to plan to be there after dark.

I'd give it at least a half a Day.
Are you bringing kids?

A full day to 1.5 days if you have kids.

No kids just gonna be in Atlanta for 1.5 days. I know I wanna see the view from the top of the mountain and see the carving, but not sure what else the park offers.

Do you golf?
Its about a mile hike up to the mountain and there is also other hiking trails and you can also camp there if thats your thing.

I wouldn't camp there. They have camping space and yurts, but they're all kind of crammed together next to the lake.
The hike up isn't bad, but there are several pretty nice hiking trails in the park. There's a good one that not too many people are usually on - Kings Trail. It's on a little island and a nice 20 minute or so hike with lake views pretty much the entire time.

And the golf courses are pretty nice. Preview the Lakemont course, but Stonemont is fun too.

I would say 2-3 hrs and you will have seen it all.

However much time it takes you better get your fill in. If it were movable it would have been long gone by now.
