Going to be staying a couple nights with the family (wife & kids) on the Riverwalk. Any recommendations for lunch/dinner?
Kids are old enough that they eat alot more than cheese pizza or chicken nuggets, so it can be a nice place. They know how to behave.
Is there good TexMex or Mexican there that's different than what we're able to get in the Houston area?

Boudro's is good and it's about the only place worth eating on the Riverwalk. It's closed for renovations now, but should open soon. You'll find some acceptable but not great places with burgers, etc.
Best eating in SA is not on the Riverwalk. Mi Tierra at El Mercado is good and the bakery is a plus. Wait will probably be long. La Margarita at El Mercado is also good.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in SA is Rosario's. Los Barrios is good, but exactly like my local restaurant in Houston.

We ate at the Jerusalem Grille off 1604 for lunch yesterday and it was fantastic.

Schilo’s is the oldest restaurant in SA....it’s an old fashioned German deli with some Tex mex. Good for breakfast.

Skip all the tourist traps along the riverwalk & take a drive out to the Pearl District (named after the famed iconic Pearl Brewery).
Check out Cured. Although the menu is centered around charcuterie, they have normal food too & even a kids burger that's pretty freaking good. They also had my favorite mescal the last time we visited.
Southerleighy Fine Food & Brewery has some good down home cooking. Make sure to get the Fried Snapper Throats. The beers not bad either.
Supper American Eatery at Hotel Emma is another great option. Has that field to fork vibe about it.
The food around the riverwalk is not worth the calories.

two we tried last time we were in SA were Ma Harpers and La Panaderia. Both were very good.
