Oh I do. But I also like fake ones. I’m kinda like a barracuda because I love shiny things.

I said the same thing — his grandpa did give my husband his grandma’s ring for me - but I didn’t want go resize it and cut off a bunch of gold that his grandma wore

I call bull shite! If you are buying your own ring god bless, its a painful process. Good luck on the up coming nuptials, hopefully he/she gave you the credit card.

This is not too far off from the old "two months' salary" formula, but I didn't spend that much. Just buy a quality diamond solitaire 1-2 carat in size. It's a tradition, a symbolic gesture. No one is pretending it's a good investment. It's basically an overpriced greeting card.

Lab created is an even bigger scam.

I can afford it and did with my first wife, divorce is trashy in the eyes of the OT I know, but it is what it is. My current SO has no desire to flaunt a ridiculous ring, she’ll pick the ring she wants and we’ll continue to go and do as we please with no financial stress based on a meaningless rock. And we live a comfortable, happy life...not even close OT baller status lol

Bought my wife’s 10k cash money at the good ol age of 24. She hardly wears it anymore. Great thing to spend money on young fellas.

The misogyny on here is pathetic. Sorry, if you married someone who is materialistic, doesn’t work or have an education, and won’t sleep with you. A lot of women aren’t like that. Some of us are hard working, loving, thoughtful, and like being touched.

Just had my wife's ring appraise for over 100% of purchase price.
Try selling it for that.

It’s just as hard for her to pick up a some dick with a ring on as it is for us boys, let her have her fun. Good news is that ring was way cheaper than a divorce.

Radio? I don’t pay attention in real life.

Not really. It’s no different than investing in gold.
Precious metals are traded like stocks.
Diamonds are not.

At the end of the day, it's worth what someone will pay. So to each his own.
Sure a diamond will have some value if you pawn/trade it. But the drop off is much, mich higher than precious metals, which have widely agreed upon market values per oz.

quote:Blue sapphire is not cheap! Not the pretty ones at least. Thought I’d be able to switch out my birthstone for my husband’s in an old ring for a few hundred... $1,500 later I now have a tiny blue sapphire weighing in right at a carat. The stone is beautiful, though the ring overall is underwhelming for the amount paid. If your friend’s stone is a decent size then it probably cost them quite a bit.
One of my good friends (who has money but is cheap) has a sapphire that is gorgeous.
