I was joking.
About the plumbers, that is.
They have their own lives and priorities.
We get that.

Look at the bright side, you’re going to get a new roof out of this. After the plumber, your second call should be to your insurance agent.
NEVER call the insurance agent yourself, let the roofer call them after inspecting your roof!

Hot water heater or pipes? That happened to me back in November. Water pouring through fixtures and vents in the kitchen, hall, mud room. Still don’t have a ceiling. Good times!

I haven't climbed up there to look yet. Had to clear 4 inches of snow in the front yard to find the main water valve and shut it off. Damn global warming!

If it's frozen pipe, it wouldn't do damage until you got above freezing for some time. If's a one story, then the only water pipe in the attic space should be hot water heater feed and return. If you have a two story, the second story should provide enough insolation for that plumbing not to freeze. Are you getting sunshine yet? If so, I would go with snow/sleet melt going through your roof.

Why is plumbing in your attic?
Is this common for you slab-on-grade baws?
