re: Now that the dust has settled (PS/5 vs XboxSeries One)

I am occasional gamer. I enjoy playing, when I play. I like mostly sport games, although my daughters like some of the shoot’em up games. I am excited about the future release of college football, even if EA is doing it.
If you don't care if you're playing last year's sports games, then go Xbox as it has EA play included plus tons of games for your daughters. For those saying there are a lot of shite games on Gamepass, yeah, there are, but there are also a lot of good games. I got in on the $1 deal and will probably keep it after it goes full price. I use it on both PC and Xbox.
The dick-measuring contest is stupid. Sony has their exclusives. Xbox has their gamepass. Nintendo has whatever they have. None are master race, so fighting over which one is better is asinine.

Most people still don’t have one and there aren’t any good games, so they might as well have not even been released yet.

Simply not true. I never said that. I said people looking to buy a cheaper system would not care about the differences, just the price.

Good thing we got receipts

The $399 PS5 also isn't comparable to a Series X. The two comparable consoles are both $499. People in this thread are saying "it's $100 cheaper than Xbox." That simply isn't true. Anyway you slice it, Xbox's value version is $100 cheaper than the PS5's value version and the main consoles are the same price. That's not a "win" for Playstation.

I’m shocked he hasn’t gone through to edit his post cuz he keeps taking Ls on it

He also tried to justify to everyone that financing an Xbox is a great return on your investment

Almost 2 trillion and still can't beat Sony at consoles

That says exactly what I said it says.

There's no reason to edit the post because it is totally consistent with what I said in this thread. I'm actually shocked he tried to quote that and present it as different from what I stated here.

It is, and now that we are nearing a period of hyperinflation, it is even better.
ETA: The future value of the money I will be using a year from now will be far less than the value of the money you dropped whole-hat months ago.

ROI? No. However it is cheaper to do their financing option if one doesn't already have Gamepass through 2022.

He's misrepresenting what I said. I said it would be better to pay $35 a month on it (if that is something you can do, and I would hope we all could) and invest the $500 you would have spent. That is a true statement.

If you have a good PC you really have no reason to get an Xbox so I thank Microsoft for that.

No doubt about that, and I think that's what they're going for. I think Microsoft is less interested with selling the most consoles and more interested in selling more Game Pass subscribers.

shite the Xbox One all in one media hub concept flopped pretty hard
Once again, that flop was a direct result of the RAM and subsequent performance of 3rd party games.
Microsoft neglected game performance for media hub. If the X1 launched with same RAM as PS4 it would have been a much different tune sung around here and their media hub concept would have been successful.
Lessons learned though, drop Kinect and beef up memory.

Still making money
Sony will win the console war, but Xbox will be available on over 1 billion devices soon.

Google Stadia Just Handed The Streaming War To Microsoft And xCloud

There is one clear winner here, and that is Microsoft, Xbox and xCloud.
Not that Stadia was some massive industry force or anything, but a lack of confidence in the service after this should draw even more people to xCloud as that continues to expand. It is 100% clear that Microsoft would never abandon its many first party development teams, so Game Pass, and in turn, xCloud, will always have a lot of first and third party titles. And Microsoft is in the gaming space to stay, whereas Google just feels like they’re dabbling in it, and their past statements that they are invested in Stadia for the long term now seem hollow.
So Sony is coming to Microsoft to help them with cloud offerings and XCloud is on its way for dominance in cloud streaming. How long until we find those 1st party Sony exclusives on XCloud?
Sony is going to make Microsoft a ton of money

I have $$ set aside in the event I so happen to randomly come across a XBX while shopping at Walmart, target, etc etc.
I was torn on debating to get a PS5 or XBX until Microsoft announced Flight Simulator 2020 will be coming to the XBX.
That’s really the main reason honestly.

This will be a pretty huge opportunity, as console gamers have really never had the chance at something as ambitious as Flight Sim 2020. There will be sticks and pedals as well to go with XSX/S
Flashback to 2013 when everyone scoffed at the idea of a game being updated in real time from the cloud. Now here we are with what is one of the most amazing sim/games ever from a tech point of view.
Microsoft was obviously premature with the vision on X1, but patience pays off. They have stated there will be more games leveraging what Flight Sim has done with the cloud.

Open-world driving game with 1:1 scaling?

Well, that would be cool.
Flight Sim 2020 was a pretty big deal for Microsoft and I hope they can leverage what they have learned. Real-time weather, air traffic, near photo-realistic landscapes.
The fact that it is coming to a console and they are saying there will be no degradation (I know, we will see).
Azure 2013 vs. Azure 2020 is such a different animal as well. I do not know who here actually work in the IT field, but the acceleration of cloud in Azure and AWS is staggering. It would be openworld on a another level.
We will see, my money is on the company who did not invest in the fast hard drive.
