Exactly, and you can buy some nice old light fixtures and stuff from Habitat Restore too. just needs a little reconditioning/rewiring sometimes, but much better quality.

Exactly what I did. Built our house a year ago. Antique light fixtures, USA made appliances, wood, and a lot of my labor. Got granite countertops for $5 from the habitat store new and built the bath vanities of cherry from a local independent sawmill.
