Because they did. O does the same thing with recruiting and it gets us burned. He often doesn't have a Plan B until it hits him in the face.

Why does it seem you need to know everyone Coach O has been in contact with? Just let it happen. You won’t know if it’s the right hire until the season begins anyway. I’m sure there would have been some melts over Brady’s credentials before the 2019 season.

With the way the season went, knowing you were going to hire another DC, it seems as though O didn’t have a list of potential DCs vetted.
He went all in on Freeman and now it seems like they're searching for a back up plan...instead of having your #2 - #3 choices ready.
Unfortunately, it reminds me of his recruiting strategy. Identify who you want, go all in! Get em, Great. They go elsewhere, scramble to fill the spot.

Regardless of reason, I always wonder why it seems like pulling teeth to get people to coach at LSU.
Even the head coaching "search" after Miles was head scratching.
With the amount of money, talent and fan support, you'd think more people would want to be here.

Bc Freeman was the only one who had an in person interview. In the coaching world you don’t bring in 10 different guys interview and select. Most work is done before hand. Feelers sent out. Discussions had. Typically when an interview happens it pretty much is a done deal. Freeman was different as he had two big programs after him.
Coach’s don’t want to interview if they don’t have a good chance of getting it. In the college world where recruiting is everything you don’t want to hurt it.
Lsu has talked to other coaches. Do they have anyone worth their salt willing to come aboard. We don’t know.
