Great news for Torchy's fans

Could Torchy's Tacos be the next Chipotle?
That's what a group of investors is betting as it pumps a whopping $400 million into the restaurant chain that started as a food truck in South Austin.
quote:
The goal is to open 100 restaurants in 10 additional states over the next four years, the company says.

Under the deal, Torchy's sold a stake to an investor group led by global private equity firm General Atlantic, which initially invested in 2017. It was joined in the ownership group by D1 Capital Partners, T. Rowe Price, Lone Pine Capital and XN. Torchy’s Founder Mike Rypka and all members of the original ownership group will reinvest as individuals, according to the company.
With the cash infusion, the chain known for its "damn good tacos" will kick off an aggressive national expansion.
Today Torchy's has 83 outlets in seven states. That includes 12 locations opened in 2020 — a year in which the coronavirus pandemic has pummeled the restaurant industry.

Quality depends on who you ask since this is a very polarizing chain in regards to Tacos.

Ate there yesterday at the Shreveport location. Probably the 3rd or 4th time we’ve eaten there since it opened. Really like the pork taco and the brisket....their green chile queso is damn strong. Quality has been the same on all my visits so far.

Is it better than Taco Bell? Then send one to Lexington.
There's clesrly a market for 24 hr drive through for stoners, drunks, and shift workers.
I have long held Taco Bells late night success is because they push that aspect of their business, and Mexican food seems to be a pretty solid way to help sober up...burgers and fries just dont do it.
Anyone with a cost effective taco alternative to the Bell could grab sone market share pretty easily.

I've found that the best tacos around here are at hole in the wall Mexican places where almost nobody speaks English. El Tio is legit.

I wish High Tech Burrito would go national.
Baton Rouge desperately needs some good Mexican fast food.

Don’t know what happened after 2016-2017, but they’ve dropped off in quality and prices went up to the point I no longer look forward to them while in H-town. There are better food trucks....

What makes it awesome is the quirky staff who have tattoos from head to toe and are cool as shite to talk to you at the bar.
The chain has to know that
