My cousin is one of the top prosecutors in my district. If I'm ever in trouble I'm calling him because he would know exactly what to do and not to do

The game has changed. Many attorneys charge for the services now only and the retainer comes when they are activated. That's how mine works, but he is not a criminal defense attorney.

I generally like you, and I know that you are an intelligent guy, but I also know what a controlled environment that you have chosen to exist in. The situations that you can imagine in your scenarios are stuck to that regimental thought with gorilla glue. I am a person that believes in the rights of other people, I almost try to be invisible. If I ever was involved in a situation where I leave a body on the ground, I will be in the right. I'm not going to stand around answering questions, I'm going home. You can think anything you want, even if it's wrong.

good advice for after you are forced to shoot. another good piece of advice my CC instructor gives is to go to extreme measures to avoid having to shoot if possible. if you have a way out, take it. don't be too proud to walk away.

He also suggested that when placing the 911 call, request two ambulances. One for the assailant and one for you. The police will want you to come to the station for questioning and there will be bystanders and possibly media when you're taken away and its better for the images to show you leaving in an ambulance to the hospital than a police car. Don't flame me, he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
You're not going to the hospital in an ambulance if you're not injured. Your guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Paramedics aren't transporting you for a media stunt.

May need a sticky between now and the inauguration.

An ambulance will take you to the hospital in a shooting incident and you are the shooter. I looked into it.

imo, the biggest emotional change for most males.. after taking the life of a bad guy... ..is that immediate shot of confidence.
For law enforcement the statistics indicate that half of those that are involved in a fatal shooting never return to their job due to emotional distress, even though they acted correctly. For most normal people your opinion is not reality.

I'm an instructor and I've thought more about this than most.
I don't care what the circumstances for the shooting are, the police are going to arrive and they're going to disarm you.
You can allow that to happen, or you can shoot them out of some misguided interpretation of your rights after a self-defense encounter.

That isn't going to be up to you.
Be a hard arse about it all you want, but if you ever find yourself in a situation like this, you sure as hell aren't just "going home" after shooting someone. It doesn't matter how right you are.

They certainly will take to you a hospital, as you'll likely have hearing damage or cannot hear at all temporarily, plus whatever bumps, bruises and cuts result from the scuffle. You'll be in shock from the confrontation, your vision will be impaired (tunnel vision), you'd be foolish not to go to a hospital. Once your fight or flight instincts kick in, rational thought goes out the window.
It seems like most of y'all refuse to realize such a confrontation is all going to occur in the space of about 10 feet or less over a very short period of time. You're not going to be shooting at guys from the distance of a target at the gun range.
If you've ever been in a fight (as an adult) or mugged, multiply that by about 1,000 and add weapons, to think you're walking home, as if your Sunday walk was rudely interrupted, or giving clear-headed statements to a district attorney while your ears are ringing & bleeding, are a little unrealistic.

Well, here you go, highlighting your lack of understanding, about most of middle America. My wife could fix my lunch and bring it to me, before the police show up. I suppose I could wait until my unfortunate advisory's family show up for revenge, they would be there before the police.

Call 911.
The only information the 911 dispatcher needs to know is:
- What assistance is needed;
- Your name and the location of the emergency;
- What you look like/are wearing; and
- That you have been the victim of a crime
My plan would be to have 911 already on the line before I act, if possible. That way, I’ve got a witness that at least hears everything that’s going on. The forensics of the scene can back up the rest.
I’m talking in the event of a home invasion, that is.

I get it just fine. I also understand the law. Leaving the scene of a shooting, no matter the circumstances will go badly for you.
And it doesn't matter what you're eating for lunch, the police are going to take your weapon.

Is it okay to talk to the police like Dirty Harry? “Yeah, I shot the bastard. That’s MY policy!”
