How do you describe yourself politically?

I would call myself a Constitutional conservative. I believe in a federal government that has only those powers specifically granted by the Constitution. Those powers not specifically granted to the federal gov't nor specifically prohibited to the States or the People are reserved for the People.
I have yet to vote for a Dem nominee for president, but I have been sorely disappointed by the actions of presidents for whom I have voted. In particular, I cringed when the Patriot Act was passed. Although the supposed need for it could be justified at the time, it granted too much authority to the federal gov't and set a trend among the American populace that the federal government existed to solve every single problem in their lives as long as they would submit.
So, my question is: How do you describe yourself in terms of political ideology? I'm not judging anyone. I'm just asking for how you view yourself and how you came to those views.

My lifelong friend says that I'm in the "radical middle". Might be right.
I believe that there are indeed God-given Rights which can not be voted out by a Democratic majority.
That said, I further believe - as a Christian - that there are equally-weighted God-given (personal) Responsibilities that if properly exercised, would negate a lot of the problems that Secular Moral Authoritarian Regimes purport to address and solve.
I think we are on the verge of synthesizing the two above Principals. IMO. I love the USA.

I’m Christian, I’m a recovered post 60’s-70’s liberal ...still have a soft spot in my heart for regular blue collar working folks that seem to be more acceptable to the Republican Party now. I believe much of the legislative powers in the DC Brothel should be returned to the states.
