quote:it says prayers OF many. Not prayers TO many.
In 2nd Corinthians 1:11, Paul says the prayers of the many strengthens and blesses a faith community.
Jesus also says HE is the way. Jesus also said not to pray to anyone else.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Do you not ask your family and friends to pray for you when you are facing some tribulation?
Do you say “Hail, grandma sue, full of grace. The lord is with the...”? Because that’s not asking for prayers. That’s praying to them. Why not use your time talking to God?

Catholics agree that Christ alone is the sole mediator between man and God and that God alone is worthy of worship as Paul stated 1 Timothy 2:5. Yet in the preceding verses, 1 Tim. 2:1–4, Paul implores ALL Christian to intercede in prayer and supplication for each other:
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.””
Since Catholics believe heaven is an actual place filled with the souls of the faithful departed, why would Catholics not beseech the saints in Heaven to intercede with prayers and supplications on their behalf? Paul says it pleases the Lord when we do so.

Praying to Mary is very powerful. Especially the rosary!
What Son is not going to do anything for His Mother!
Yeah, that’s not what the Bible teaches. That is a doctrine of man.
Matthew 12:46-50
46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

We ask for Mary to pray for us and to others. Here is the prayer we pray.
Hail Mary, Full of Grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinnersno
and at the hour of our death.
So basically we are giving the respect due to her as the Mother of our savior, who as the Bible says was chosen by God because of her purity.
She was blessed because she gave birth and raised our savior.
We ask her, as we ask other saints, to pray for us. Not to do things for us, but to intercede for us to God and Jesus.
Too bad most non-Catholics don't know what we actually believe and think that they are experts!

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee" is directly from the Gospel of Luke. Apparently, even an angel of God held her in high regard.

Even Martin Luther believed in the Marian doctrine..
quote:
Our prayer should include the Mother of God.. .What the Hail Mary says is that all glory should be given to God, using these words: "Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus Christ. Amen!" You see that these words are not concerned with prayer but purely with giving praise and honor.. .We can use the Hail Mary as a meditation in which we recite what grace God has given her. Second, we should add a wish that everyone may know and respect her...He who has no faith is advised to refrain from saying the Hail Mary. (Personal Prayer Book, 1522)

We'll, let's see what Jesus said.
Luke 11:1-4
11 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Jesus said nothing about Mary here.

And? Catholics pray the Lord’s prayer daily all across the globe.
Jesus said all other prayers is not allowed?
Bottom line is we honor his/our mother as he said to do.

No, but when his disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, this is what he taught them. He didn't say, pray to or with my dead mom Mary. That is a foolish doctrine of man.
The argument that, who better to ask than Jesus' mom?, is a doctrine of man. That's a fairytale.
