Just to add...I really liked what Lazeby brought to the role...Unfortunately, he really was the guy following the man. His stupid behavior leading up to On Her Majesty's Secret Service was baffling after he had done so much to win the role. That movie is VERY close to the book.

A little too close to the book sometimes.
OHMSS is the first time Bond and Blofeld meet face to face in the books but the second time in the movie chronology so the movie has that weird sequence where they don't seem to quite recognize each other at Piz Gloria.
I know that was retconned by fans as Connery getting surgery to look like Lazenby but everybody else seems to recognize him on sight, which was aided by him introducing himself as "James Bond" throughout the movie.
