re: Breonna Taylor: it was not a no knock warrant

Yes, they beat on the door in the middle of the night ... without announcing their identities, per every single witness who was not wearing a badge.
I don't know if we'll ever know more about the witness than that, but I don't think doubting an otherwise apparently honest and respected official like the AG is a good look.
I get not trusting what the police have to say because they have skin in the game (their own).
I would think if there was no corroborated announcement, the AG wouldn't have corrupted the investigation by generating that false witness.
But that's my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

False.
The officer was shot after the door was broken down.
Not according to the USA Today I read this morning. I had thought the officer was shot after breaking the door down.
quote:
Officers claim that when they arrived at Taylor’s apartment the night of March 13, they knocked multiple times and identified themselves as police; Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, says no identifying calls were made.
When the couple was awoken by the knocks on the door, Walker, suspecting a home invasion, issued a “warning shot” at the lower part of the door. The shot hit the leg of Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, injuring him.
Police then broke down the apartment door with a battering ram and fired a series of rounds into the apartment. Taylor was shot at least eight times and fatally wounded.

quote:
Walker told investigators when he heard banging at the door his first thought was that it was Taylor's ex-boyfriend. He was concerned there might be trouble, so he grabbed his gun.
As Walker and Taylor made their way down a hallway toward the front door, Walker said, the door flew off its hinges.
"So I just let off one shot," he said. "I still can't see who it is or anything."
quote:
Cameron said Wednesday the officers both knocked and announced their presence at the apartment -- an account he insisted was corroborated by a witness near Taylor's apartment.
After the officers used a battering ram to enter, Mattingly was shot in the leg, severing his femoral artery, he told investigators.

quote:Here is the affidavit by which the warrant was obtained. In relevant part:quote:The Kentucky AG doesn't agree.
But it was STILL a "no-knock warrant," because the document (by its own UNAMBIGUOUS language) AUTHORIZED them to enter the premises without knocking.
quote:The judge issued the warrant as requested.
Affiant is requesting a No-Knock entry to the premises due to the nature of how these drug traffickers operate. These drug traffickers have a history of attempting to destroy evidence. have cameras on the location that compromise Detectives once an approach to the dwelling is made, and a have history of fleeing from law enforcement.
There is ZERO evidence that Breonna had surveillance cameras watching for the approach of cops. This was a lie. Likewise, there is no evidence that Breonna had any history of fleeing law enforcement. Another lie.

Now it gets confusing is the media, police, or boyfriend lying? He either shot before or after the door got knocked down.

quote:Who knows?quote:Did the fact that they had the option to not knock, have any bearing on the outcome of this event?
The fact that they CHOSE not to EXERCISE that authority does NOT change the nature of the warrant
It is certainly indicative of their willingness to lie in order to get what they wanted from the judge. If they were willing to lie (under oath) to a judge, what else are they laying about?

Do you think that applied just to Taylor and her residence?

The boyfriend has stated multiple times that the police knocked then kicked down the door and he fired.
Not sure where USA Today got their story.

None of the officers involved in the raid were involved in obtaining the warrant.

The DA did not solely rely on police testimony/accounts and neither did the grand jury.

quote:A judge refused to allow a "no-knock".
They knocked and announced their presence
Meanwhile, NO ONE heard the "open up, it's the police" announcement the judge had required
OTOH a litany of folks heard Taylor and Walker screaming "Who is it?"

Do you think that applied just to Taylor and her residence?
Basically, the lazy (and dishonest?) cop xeroxed the same affidavit for each of the five addresses. The vast majority of it DID NOT apply to Taylor's residence.
I sometimes wonder whether there is ANY malfeasance by law enforcement that authoritarians like yourself will NOT condone.

Thought a neighbor confirmed that they heard the police knock and identify themselves?

Lets say he did.
What does that have to do with Taylor being shot?

Just a theory but at that late hour most people would be in their bedrooms (at the back of their apartments), thus closer to Taylor and Walker than to police officers outside the front door.

thats not what the AG said earlier.

How do you know how loud they knocked? What time was it?
And do you really believe that cops should be able to bust into your house for a non violent offense?
And I bet you are someone who thinks they are a conservative and a strict constitutionalist.

And Mike Brown had his hands up hollering "don't shoot". Drug addicts don't make very reliable witnesses.

This thread is not ABOUT "Taylor being shot."
This thread is ABOUT some moron called "Dawgfanman" insisting that the warrant was NOT "no knock" in nature.
The warrant authorized entry without knocking. Simple as that.
