Who outperforms who over the next 2 decades and why do you think that?

I would rank all 3: S&P 500, Tech ETF then Apple, because tech is currently overvalued generally and Apple specifically. Plus, buying a single stock is undiversfied, you're putting all your eggs in one basket but you’re not being compensated for that undiversified risk. Apple has been bankrupt in the last 30 years but the risk of a total wipeout in the S&P 500 is not a concern. Tech is not a reliable asset class over the long haul either.
If you think you're going to beat the market based on TD market advice, you're going to be poor. Buy the book "The 3 Fund Portfolio", buy index funds and stop thinking you can beat the market.

If I were looking to buy a tech specific fund I’d look into IGM over VGT. Just my $.02

It's expense ratio is over 4x higher than VGT

Care to share why? Dividends are nearly 150% higher with VGT, expenses are four times cheaper with VGT and returns are otherwise essentially the same. VGT has actually outperformed in the 1, 3, 5 and 10 year periods.

For the long term - the S&P 500. Anything else is more of a gamble.
