Looks like the trend is going well for me right now. Should be another shift west later I would think.

Beaumont is an awful place to be if it floods as forecasted you would be stuck for a while
At least in Gonzales you'll be home even if it gets the worse end of the storm the flooding shouldnt have the same potential

My father wants to go to my sisters in Lafayette. Anyone's thoughts on it being far enough out? Especially if it continues west?

Does anyone recall how much damage Rita did to Morgan city? I can’t find it and am trying to use it as a gauge for Laura.

I got caught in that Houston exodus for Rita. It took me 30 hrs to get to Shreveport. All I had in my car was Girl Scout cookies and water. Many people were stranded on side of the road bc they ran out of gas or broke down. shite was nuts.

shite I did not want to wake up and see an “M”

It was just a matter of time.

Hard to believe you didn't pack a handle of Jim for the ride!

I feel like they’ve been underestimating this storm and now are starting to catch up. I’m going to preface that with the fact I am not super knowledgeable about weather, but just based on surrounding conditions of the storm, I thought it’d be pretty damn bad.
I think it’s gonna reach cat 4 status near landfall.

Fricking Rita all over again. Hopefully it pulls a Lili and dies out

No, but it’s a remnant low now, maybe not enough time or the conditions from Laura starve it?
Also, seems everyone is saying push to the west but are uncertain of the strength of the high. Who’s to say it won’t shift back East within the next 12 hours? That’s my concern. No offense to our friends in East Texas.

Stout, you’re kind of a douche, but stay safe buddy.

Alexandria far enough out in anyone's professional opinion?

Think of it as an 18-wheeler’s trailer roof being caught on an overpass. The 18-wheeler wants to keep going straight but because of that the roof of the trailer gets peeled back and ripped off and its contents become exposed with nothing keeping them together and they fly all over the interstate.
That’s what happened with Marco. The storm wanted to west, but a wind shear moved east across it and completely ripped it open. When that happened it pretty much disintegrated and the wind shear took the bulk of its storms to the east.

Where you headed? We are still going NW Houston. Not a flood zone where we will be. Right outside the outer bands. Hopefully we avoid all the effects
