How can I say this nicely? They have had shields for f-ing years moron. Oh well, I tried.

Do the old toothpaste trick like I do for my scuba mask. Have the equipment guys do all the masks the night before.

The virtues must be signaled! Please tell me the mouth-visors are actually just an Onion article.
Why would the players, who touch and sit in close contact each other daily for months on end, need to have a plastic sheet two inches from their mouth while playing? Even if it made sense to have them wear face shields (it doesn't), the damn things have holes in them

spit and or dawn does the same for a scuba mask. I don't think the mask fogging will be the big issue. How hot the players will be wearing those in September/October will be.

Is it worse to risk a few covid exposures or have 3 linemen drop dead in September?

quote:I would imagine... NCAA has a rule about facemaskes and visors that they be shatterproof (and untinted for the visors).
Hopefully those are shatter proof. I'd hate to see any players injured by having shards of plastic break off into their face
They also have a prohibition on what they term "overbuilt". Which going by what I knew in the past (may have changed), this would qualify as "overbuilt".
ETA: adding toothpaste, anti-fog, dawn, etc. is (debateably) against NCAA rules also. If you wear a visor, in the past, they considered such "an unfair advantage".

I wonder is they can put a respirator in the helmet to help with breathing
Posted on 7/31/20 at 6:26 pm to Blanky6715
I’m sure they’re treated with something to prevent fogging. Also many players already wear visors - I know I would, too easy to get poked in the eye especially in a pile.

I don’t think it will fog, but I bet it’s hot and effects their breathing. Hopefully they will be practicing in them.

If they created this crap because of COVID then they have lost their minds. This like a mask is not going to stop a virus. And honestly there is a cure for the virus so why all the mad panic. You all that believe in this virus and buy into the world wide scare are SHEEP.

Or at least that was the argument for not worrying about COVID.

Why? Shouldn’t the players have all been tested negative the day before the game? Why make them breathe extra carbon dioxide if they are all negative on Gameday? Do people realize the virus is going to infect you with or without the shield/mask?

It’s the same material just more of it to cover the whole face.
It will be hot as frick with no fesh air to cool off the face and head. Players that have already recovered from covid should not be required to use it.
