This is a lot like the Fayetteville/Dickson Street threads hog fans plaster on here all the time.
Not sure why it's specifically like the Fayetteville/Dickson St. threads as opposed to the Boise, Asheville, Greeneville, Huntsville, etc. threads.
It's the only thread on Knoxville that I've seen on this board. Which is why I wanted to do one.

When does Gravy run for mayor?

The breweries suck though, it's Balter and everyone else. Hi wire is decent but not really local and not in a great area.
Balter has great food, but their beer is bottom tier in the city. It's not bad (only Downtown Brewery is bad) but it's nothing special.
And Hi-Wire is in one of the most up and coming parts of town.

Let's not forget one of the reasons Knoxville is a great city.
You have Glenn fricking Reynolds living in your city and teaching law at UT.
OG libertarian blogger.

Is one of those pics the Chimney Tops? One with dude stand on top?
You're on the money. That's Chimney Tops. Love the hike, pretty short but almost straight vertical until you level out @ the top. Great views of the valley looking East

The actual Hi Wire building will be awesome when they finish up the roof top bar. Then it'll be a place with a capacity of hundreds but with 10 parking spots outside. I'm not an abridged guy, they have too many beers instead of focusing on a few. Pretentious is pretty good but acid will end up in their brews accidentally one day. I may not like the brew scene as much cause the go to IPA for Knox folks is Sweetwater.
Bar scene is as good as you know the town, Gay street is pretty well overpriced and too many libs and Magnolia folks. Cool beans can make you feel old quick. Buckethead and roosters are pretty sweet though.
Outdoors scene is cool but overcrowded.
Food scene is awesome though with great HH specials.

We lived in Knoxville for 14 years and loved it there. The downtown area is cool and the amount of breweries there is impressive.

Yup...currently in the process of buying a business there and getting the F out of SoCal

I love the aesthetics and setup @ Balter. You can tell they spent some serious coin to achieve their vision. The food is really good, but I think the beer is meh at best outside of 1 or 2 choices.
I'll take the grungier (is that a word?) microbreweries all day. I think the taste of the beer is 10x better, but the facilities are no where close to the larger and more financially backed Balter, Hi-Wire, Elkmomt Exchange, Schulz Brau type breweries. It's all preference so it's all good.

I'll definitely try some more of your recommendations. I do agree on Balter, love the Fire belly and some of their rotating beers but the rest are meh. I just moved from Knoxville for a job but I'm working remotely until at least 2021 so I can work from wherever until then.

Yeah, parking is going to become an issue soon in South Knox.
Abridged scores points for being closest to my house, and for great food. I could also just drink Toppy Rock all day.
I need to find a few outdoor hidden gems.

Nailed it. Elkmont is similar. Have you been to Next Level yet?

I feel that. I'm from Los Angeles County (Santa Clarita valley) but have been in Knoxville for some time. Good luck with the move and let me know if you have any questions.

Awesome, I appreciate that. Definitely taking note of the breweries and restaurant info

Not yet -- that's one of the only breweries that I haven't been to yet. I'm only a little over 5 minutes up Broadway from them, but they opened at a tough time with the virus grabbing everybody by the balls. I'm hoping to check them out soon. Have you been?
