Knoxville, TN -- A city reinventing itself

Inspired by the thread earlier today on Asheville and the beautiful areas surrounding it. I thought I'd throw one together for one of it's sister cities on the other side of the Mountains and the Gateway to the Smokies.
Founded in 1791 & nestled in between the Cumberland plateau and The Smoky Mountains lies Knoxville, TN. A city that's really started to transform itself over the last 5-10 years in terms of it's perception as a sleepy mid sized city in need of some TLC into an up and comer with a thriving downtown and an outdoorsmans paradise. Largely in part due to a string of forward thinking city leadership, an extremely low cost of living, and being located in one of the more scenic areas East of the Mississipi river.
What makes it attractive for home owners and a good place to visit for guests?
It's a city thats big enough to have everything you need while being small enough to not have the issues that we're seeing all over the country in the much larger cities. A walkable downtown with multiple districts & more than 100+ bars, breweries, & restaurants with more on the way. A brand new minor league baseball stadium to be built downtown for The Smokies is in the works and expected to be built within the next 5 years. The University of Tennessee, miles of greenways and an urban wilderness, proximity to mountains, numerous lakes and rivers for hunting and fishing. One of the better brewery scenes for a city it's size in the South (20+ breweries and counting with most being in walking/bike riding distance of each other), friendly people and a sense of community.
Further info:
Weather: It's got 4 seasons with a beautiful fall, a hot summer, but without the unbearable heat & humidity like some of our brother states in the Deep South. As well as a winter that sees snowfall and allows for snowboarding and skiing in Gatlinburg or close access to the other ski resorts in Western North Carolina
Knox county public schools are good and there are multiple private schools in the city as well.
Politically the city itself is lead by a fairly centrist democratic mayor while the county is lead by a Republican (Professional wrestler Kane) so pretty fair representation across the board. Although the region at large leans heavily conservative.
Population:
Knoxville City limits: 191,060 (2020 Est.)
Knox County: 475k~ (2020 Est.)
Knoxville Metro: 898k (2020 Est.)
**Note: There is no distinction in most cases where the city ends and where the county starts. It all runs together -- it's all Knoxville.

Long story short, come check us out! We'd love to have you.

We came in 2017 to watch the LSU arse whipping and stayed 5 extra days in Gatlinburg. Beautiful city and country.

I'm just somebody who loves the city and wanted to highlight the positives.

I love the Smokies.
Also, Dollywood has legit rollercoasters with fast lines.

Potentially one of the most uninformed and inaccurate statements I've ever read about Knoxville.

A 2 or 3.
There were a few small protests, about the worst vandalism was someone smashing flower planters in Market Square.

I've got family from around Knoxville. It is definitely a beautiful city. Even the small towns surrounding Knox have amazing scenery (Kingston, Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, etc), although Harriman is one of the most depressing towns I have ever seen.

Knoxville sucks cause the colors are blinding and it is full of vol fans. Chattanooga is a much better place

This is very true.
At least 4 have opened since I moved here about a year ago, if you count the Hi-Wire taproom.
And I heard that Bearden Beer Market was working on their own brewing system, but I haven't been there since the pandemic started.

It was way worse when Lane Kiffin left

I’ll be back next time LSU plays up there

I believe it.
Ole Miss will be in town next year. That'll be fun.

I doubt very seriously whether Mayor Kane would allow such nonsense on a large scale. He'd start burying people alive, throwing them off the tops of building and pile driving them into the pavement.
That whole side of the state of awesome. Buddy of mine owns the a restaurant in Maryville... the Foothills Milling Company.
