Was hoping he would stay another year, but oh well. I don't blame him. Good luck Matt Clark. It was nice watching you crush homers.

other than Matty our biggest loss was the two Florida Juco pitchers who signed...

Those kids would've been huge...

i heard from a good source coleman will be back. i thought clark would be smarter, i knew , probably from his daddy, he wanted to go pro as soon as possible, but if he would come back and had a big year again, his draft status woulda bumped way up and so would the money... clears way for dean or ochinko at first perhaps

Probably the money which is the almost always the case, but he is from Fontana which is about two hours north of SD, so I am sure that was a little bonus as well. I have buiz in SD Monday and I will be hanging around to go see the Padres vs Arizona in Petco Monday.

His draft round may have bumped up a little but the money may have actually gone down. Seniors get pennies on the dollar compared to underclassmen, and in some cases are looking at $1,000 depending on who drafts them. Occasionally you'll get a senior like Casey Weathers from Vanderbilt last year, or the guy from Georgia this year, who go in the top of the first round, but Matt Clark isn't that kind of guy.

Keep in mind Brad Hawpe went in the 11th round..

depending on the team and their situation, picks move up or down...

timing, player need...etc.

he was smart for signing. he has way more leverage as a junior, and he had a monster season. what if he had a rough year next season? he would've been screwed. plus juco guys that are good are usually looking for the fastest way to the pros.
