John Adams was the only founding father who did not own slaves. He came from no money. Hamilton's family did own slaves and he inherited some but never had access to them.
Depends on who you consider a “founding father”. And while Franklin owned two slaves he actually freed them in his lifetime.
There were Founding father who were opposed to slavery, but they didn’t put abolition ahead of forming an alliance they thought could defeat the British.
quote:
This is ridiculous argument and really needs to be put in context with all societies at this time. Every country and civilization practiced slavery, even AFRICA and some still do. America is the most diverse free country in the world providing opportunities to all based on the freedom our founding fathers fought and died for. Name one country more diverse and free?
And it was also when people started to reconsider these bonds.
And I am Not anti-America. You’re right l, this is a great nation while not Perfect, the foundation is there for us to continually strive for perfection.

I do not have a link for the video but some young reporter type interviewed high school age persons and most had not a clue about historical knowledge. Especially the part about which you speak as relates to our Independence and the Constitution.
The two teachers interviewed exposed exactly why this is so. It was alarming to see what many fear is the practice of education now.

Washington knew he would have never been able to bring the colonies together if he pushed the issue of abolishing slavery. He recognized that the revolution would have failed because this issue was not going to be resolved at the time. Chernow’s book on Washington I believe addresses this.
Without Washington the revolution fails because the Continental Army falls apart. His courage strength kept the effort together and once the revolution was won, he sacrificed his later years in life to once again serve his new country by getting it off on solid footing.
Anyone who wants to diminish what he gave of himself and his family In service to his country because he owned slaves which was not uncommon in the era is a moron.

I know who I am and what I believe. You don’t know who you are or what you believe.

Leftists have long sought to subvert, undermine and destroy America as a bulwark of individual freedom, economic success and the foe of Marxism.

A person unaware of self cannot recognize that lack of awareness. That’s a tautology, of course. But tautologies aren’t always wrong.

I am Not going to argue with you because I generally Agree. His contribute on to this country Is great and you have balance that when evaluating his history.
That being said, I’m a white guy, and if you have to evaluate the benefits this country provided black, it’s not great for the first.
If someone fought a war for freedom and the. Didn’t provide it to my people I may Not hold him in as high regard.
As it stands I think We have a tendency to throw the baby out with the bath water. America wasn’t made perfect, but we got a lot of things right and have worked towards perfection over the years.
If you look at our record on religious freedom it’s #1. No nation comes close.

This is getting insane. Washington was a hero who fought for this country and the right to express differentiating opions . Because of Washington any group can have their opinions expressed. You dont like it here move... I wont apologize for this nations history...
It all makes sense when you finally realize that it wasn't about the Confederacy. It wasn't about George Washington. It's about Western Civilization itself.
The Left did what they always do... start with a small demand ("We just want dignity for gays, we don't want marriage or anything like that. Just decriminalize!), and then they slippery slope their way to "Give us total domination or we'll burn your house down".
Simply put, ANTIFA/BLM is about destroying Western Civilization and replacing it with Communism. And it's going to be a life or death struggle. No way around it. At this point, it's them or us, and I choose us.

Jim Crow is the only stain on our outstanding building of this government. We got the rest right and fixed Jim Crow. Every human in this country has the exact same freedoms from the government. Some even more (affirmative action)
Our social construct has perversed some of our freedoms to attack opposing opinions now. I’m not 100% sure how to fix this.

Wake up it's not about racism or George Washington it's about democrats wanting to cause strife to destroy Trump and America. Why you ask? Cause they hate capitalism and this country and all that is good.

Where the frick do people like you come from? Do you not realize that history is just that. People back then owned slaves even before America was even thought of. Why not hold Egypt accountable for slaves? You hold the founding fathers of this country accountable for what? Owning slaves when owning slaves was what happened back then. Does it make it right? NO but dumb fuks like you want to wash away something that can't be changed. Without this country's past there is no present day America and don't act like things haven't changed for the better INCLUDING BLACK PEOPLE. I work and see successful black people all around me every day. Finally quit watching your Fake arse news and look around there are no cops pulling black people out of the cars daily and please if you don't like this country just change your citizenship and leave it. Rant over
