As a world famous aviator, Lindbergh toured Europe on a speaking tour of his exploits. While in Germany, Lindbergh was allowed unprecedented access to the German Luftwaffe after being introduced to Göring by the American Ambassador to Germany.

That meeting very well may have been an intelligence gathering operation. Though opposed to the involvement of the United States in yet another European War — like millions of other Americans— Lindbergh dutifully provided intelligence to the U.S. military about his estimation of the German war machine.

After Pearl Harbor, Lindbergh joined the Army Air Corps as a civilian test pilot and served admirably in that role; Lindbergh also flew over 50 combat missions as a civilian contract pilot in the Pacific theatre. Charles Lindbergh is a great American hero in which all Americans should be proud.
