Guymon was one of the centers of the Great Dustbowl from the 1930’s. If you look carefully you can still see some scars from that event, otherwise it is one of the loneliest places on Earth, similar to Antarctica.

Abandoned farm equipment, farm houses and barns one gust away from collapsing.Since I last past through there the highways have been upgraded but prior the roads were narrow lanes with jointed concrete panels that had large gaps and were twisted out of level.

Great place to raise a family. Bad place to be single.

It would have to be a big upgrade financially for me to even consider living in Guymon. It's in the middle of nowhere, over 4 hours to OKC.

I hear that that part of OK has a nice night sky, if you're into that sort of thing.

It's okay.....but the tornadoes get to be a real hassle.

they must want to pay a ton of money to move there.
Paper mills, refineries, and processing plants are like that. Often in rural arse places but pay above market to ELEs(entry level engineers) to get them out there. They stick around long enough to be vested in 401k and get experience then gtfo. Management is happy to retain 1 of 5 after 3 yrs. It's a win win.

Of the 4 states i’ve lived in, Oklahoma is by far the worst and Mississippi is on that list lol. Although i live on the coast so i may feel different if i lived further north.

Really good duck hunting and the deer are huge. Everybody goes to Kansas for deer but Okie deer hunting is legit. Other than that, Okie sucks so bad it keeps Texas from falling into the Gulf.
