Was an XM subscriber for a little over 5 yrs; I kept resubscribing at intro rate ($5 a month) every 6 months (I couldn't get them to do it for a year). Anyway I bought a new truck ('20 Sierra AT4) and it came with XM's latest and greatest radio....that didn't work for shite....not all the time but enough to piss you off. When I would start the truck and it didn't hook up with the satellite immediately, I'd have to shut everything down and wait a couple of minutes and try it again. This started a couple of weeks after getting the truck.
I'm not going to go through every little detail (yeah I know, good) & the upteen times I called and the hours on the phone. I called XM the first time and they went thru all bullshite of reestablishing a connection (which would never happen until you shut everything down) and then they said for me to have the dealer replace the XM module; which they did.
Issue kept returning and FINALLY after 3 months of this, a person at XM told me that they didn't have a permanent fix for the problem.
Last straw? I got in my truck 2 weeks ago to go fishing and it said I didn't have an XM subscription even tho I was paid thru Oct. Cancelled the following Monday.
I now have Spotify and use it thru my Apple Car Play and it's free.
Yeah I know, CSB.

You started a thread about canceling Sirius XM?
Posted on 5/20/20 at 8:14 am to Jack Daniel
And you replied to it.....pretty sure others with new trucks have had similar issues and may not know why.

Had xm on my chev a couple trucks ago, bought a ford (sirius) So I call xm to cancel. Probably had two month left on contract and Juan tells me he will note to cancel at end of my current contract. Me; cancel my damn contract effective Today!!
Juan said fine, you should receive your $12 refund in two weeks.

Do you think buying a truck is what makes this an OB worthy thread?

Not the buying of a truck BUT
Truck and OB go together
Truck and OB go together

Truck have a trailer hitch? This is what separates the cream from the wheat on this board.

My XM is up in July. I've been having it for at least 10 years, but like you said, with Spotify and Carplay, I just don't listen to it anymore.
I guess I can use that $60/year on beer money.

It has gotten as bad as AM Radio back in the day. I have had XM since the late 90's and in the beginning you'd lose signal in town but on the road it would never fade. Then it got to where it wouldn't fade in town either....now it fades in town and under bridges and sometimes for no reason at all. I have had it in vehicles in the states, Europe and the Caribbean and it would work, partially, even over seas....but I bet it won't now.
We have it 5 vehicles and I think it is costing us about $70 a month...not certain...I am thinking about eliminating it all together but I don't want to have to mess with the phone while driving.

Maybe I should start a thread about having an FM radio in my truck.....

Pretty sure it's a big GM problem. I have a Ford with XM and it only goes out under a bridge or in a tunnel.

This thread is OT worthy though, right down to the OP that has nothing to do with the outdoors.
I mean, I expected this to be a question about where to get outdoor TV shows without having cable/satellite. Boy was I wrong.

I am constantly amazed at the people that still spend money on satellite radio. With amazon music, Spotify, and the thousands of great podcasts why on earth would you pay for radio? It’s like my parents paying to keep a landline phone, lol.

I bought a lifetime subscription with xm in 2006. It covered 5 vehicle transfers. On my last one now and it was like pulling teeth for each transfer. They dont offer the lifetime anymore and I rarely listen to it anyway. It was worth it for 200 bucks though way back when

XM reception on the GM trucks is garbage. The newer radios don’t precache like the older ones did so all signal drops are very noticeable. It was unbearable in my 17 Chevy but almost never drops in my Ram. Not really XMs fault.
