Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves

Just spent time reading 10,000 names of high school graduates. His handling of the crisis has earned an 83 percent approval rating.
Yet the comments on social media.
“Give me my unemployment”
“You are letting people die”
“Our healthcare professionals don’t have masks”
I liked one reply to the last one: Tell them to go to the store and buy them.

Mississippi is the most uneducated and unhealthiest state in the US. It’s not surprising. Although, just about everyone I know in MS, is ready for it to reopen.

Same thing for Kemp.
Most of us Georgians love our Governor.
But if you listen to the media he’s a redneck Josef Mengele committing human sacrifice.
I’m not exaggerating.

Letting people have freedom is apparently being murderous yet having an assembly line to commit genocide on black children is “my body my right”.

Have family in Lauderdale county and they came to the coast and were shocked at all the movement on the roads, no masks etc. I didn’t vote for reeves but he has done well with corona at least on the coast. My only complaint is if we don’t get kids back in school in the fall.

NTY.
Man. My daughter and I ran into a double quick today. I wasn't wearing a mask. Neither was she. This big dude, standing in line next to us, also not masked, coughed hard and with force in our direction. He laughed with the guy with him. My daughter and i just looked at each other like wtf?! Now I'm sitting here thinking really, wtf was that? Obvious fake forced cough and didn't cover it. Just hope he isn't down w the covid19.

Reeves has handled this extremely well, especially considering the shape of the state when he took over. He inherited massive issues at virtually every agency under his command.

I’m surprised he is doing well considering he was treated as the retarded stepchild no one really wanted as Governor.

He has good people around him.

Well the Oxford mayor mandated masks ... know how fun that was moving our kid out of the dorm on Saturday?? It was really weird to see everyone and I mean EVERYONE in Walmart in a mask. I felt like I was in another country or something. That won't be fun in June or July if that mandate isn't lifted.

You left off... “while under Democrat’s majority in the House”
Now, since Democrats have finally been reduced to barking dogs at the end of their chains, this happened with a Republican supermajority:
Mississippi Ranks No. 1 in Nation for Score Gains on National Assessment of Educational Progress
quote:
JACKSON, MS) – Mississippi has achieved the No. 1 spot in the nation for gains on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation’s Report Card, with 4th grade students making the largest score gains from 2017 to 2019 in reading and mathematics, 8th grade students outpacing the nation for growth in mathematics, and 8th grade reading holding steady.
Mississippi is the only state in the nation to show significant increases in three of the four core NAEP subjects in 2019.
Washington, D.C., is the only jurisdiction to show gains in three of four subjects.
Nationally, scores for most NAEP subjects dropped or remained flat from 2017 to 2019. For the first time, Mississippi 4th graders scored higher than the nation’s public school average in mathematics and tied the nation in reading.
This after ONE decade of Republicans completely running the state and WITHOUT significantly increasing funding.
On the bottom with a century of democrat obstruction. Significant gains in one decade of republican leadership.

Reeves reminds me of the first couple of years of Jindal. Completely dorky and completely competent. You knew you were in good hands, and he wasn't intimidated by the moment. Solidly conservative, but not so rigid as to be impossible.
For the sake of our MS baws, I hope he doesn't get stupid like Jindal did.

That’ll depend largely on his ability to retain his staff and handle the Lt. Governor and Speaker.
