I think COVID has opened eyes about cops...

I feel like up until now most people would wager that cops would not obey an order to disarm the public if given the order.
I think the unprecedented overreach and enforcement of unconstitutional stay at home orders, to the point of ridiculousness, has made people realize that most cops would happily enforce such an order.
Has your mind been changed as a result of what we’ve seen in the last month?

It's a good point, but I think it depends where you live...the more rural, the less likely
Cities are the problem with everything

Mine has changed. Cannot believe some of the things the local governments are pulling out of their arse to outdo the other guy. It’s a race to see who can be the most proactive at taking away rights.

I've known it all along.
Good to see some eyes being opened.

I’m retired LEA, current LEO, and I agree with you 100%. I just posted that concern in another thread.
ETA: Before, I would have (and have) argued that over 50% would buck if it came to gun confiscation. I don’t think it’s anywhere near that number. Rural sheriffs are the most likely stop gap but not even they will be unanimous.

I have many friends who are cops...everyone of them will be shooting right along side us 2A defenders.

I’m an LEO and no they won’t. This is sarcasm right?

Congratulations On your LEO status. No, no sarcasm...can’t speak for all cops, but the ones I know would quit the force before getting into a shoot out over an unconstitutional order.

I did some reading on the Tiananmen Square incident. I recall reading that the Chinese government got troops from rural areas with the thought that they would not have any sympathy for the city protestors. I would imagine that our government will probably try to outsource the arms confiscation when it is time to do it.

Outsource to who? Gueydan and Delcambre police?

They are not gonna disregard their only source of income...over your rights...

You ever hear of Blackwater? I am not saying that is the company that will do it, but companies that will do the government’s dirty work do exist. Mercenaries, hired guns. I am familiar with Blackwater, I am only mentioning them as an example.

Once again, I can’t speak for every cop. The cops I know have already stated, that yes, they will find a new job as opposed to going door to door enforcing gun confiscation. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some of you guys to understand, you can’t paint every cop with such a broad brush. Cuffing people for house parties is one thing, getting shot at for confiscating guns from every citizen for 30k a year...something completely different.

My mind was changed way back when these police departments started to accumulate all the "toys." Mraps, etc.
Cops are like little kids, they're not gonna let that toy sit it the box on the shelf.
They want any excuse to use them.
Just like the politicians will never let a good crisis go to waste.

Nope. Militarizing our police forces scares tf out of me.
If shite ever goes down, our police will do EXACTLY what they are told. Luckily, our military personnel might think twice.

I agree. U.N. troops could fit the bill. Years ago I worked with a dude from Arkansas that told me about seeing a lot of UN trucks and soldiers on that that Buffalo River, or something like that, area. I thought the guy was crazy. He told me it was a training ground for UN troops. This guy I am refering to worked in mechanical maintaince at the ANO nuclear plant in Russellville. He was a weird cat, religious and definitely a gun nut. I really don’t know if he was telling the truth or not.

They are authoritarians that know they get to keep their guns and job. Most would do it in a heartbeat.

Yep. Your local sheriff or PD really have a lot of use for these things. That the FEDs have been passing out like candy.

Ones who will blindly follow errant leadership and/or court orders because the judge (or Governor) “said so” is a bigger concern with me than those beholden to the job for money. I see your point with better paid departments but not lower paid ones.
