Its all about the masks, its always been about the masks. Not demanding everyone wear mask will be the issue that get harped on by the democrats after all this is over. Just common sense.

They also don’t let thousands of Chinese Nationals into their country every month.

Laredo is going to end up paying more in law suits than they make on those fines

Not a bad solution but only 62 deaths?
Either the thing is just gonna blow up completely of just flat line.
I starting to think it'll be the latter.
Didn't test so all the others were the normal flu.
if u normally lose 2 to 50k people a year with the flu and you don't test for corona you don't know the difference.

Japan’s secret is they are clean as hell, don’t shake hands, wear masks, & very very respectful of other people.

I thought too that Chinese weren’t “welcome” in Japan?

This is not true, Chinese flood Japan, it’s a lot like NY where you need money if you want to go but Tokyo is a Chinese tourist hotspot. In fact 1/3 of all Tourists in Japan are Chinese.
This is another reason it doesn’t make sense. They didn’t over hype this, they probably have more dying of it but they are still culturally tough whereas we are soft. Their people aren’t stupid either, if there is a problem, they were a mask, wash hands, stay home if they feel sick, basically their media and govt don’t want it to spread

They also are a fricking island, hate the Chinese, and can be very restrictive who gets in and out

Well said. They are a mono-culture. They never took to open their borders to various groups of beggars.

Are they still riding subways and congregating in public gatherings?
Not that I am aware of
Culture is very different though. They go to grocery store every day or every other day

Please, Australia is an island as well and 1/6 the population and 10X more deaths and 200X less the population density.

Restrictive to immigration maybe but they were getting thousands of tourist daily especially from China.

While there have been disruptions caused by school closures, life continues as normal for much of the population. Tokyo rush hour trains are still packed and restaurants remain open

Asian countries have adopted mask wearing as a normal cultural thing for years now. People wear them without much thought and nobody thinks its weird or alarming to see them.
Here in America people are self conscious about wearing them and also we get weirded out when we do see them.

That and they started screening / quarantining every passenger from the Wuhan region on January 3rd.

Yeah shaking hands is a pretty stupid tradition.
It goes back to ancient times. It is a demonstration of non aggression. You don't have a weapon and you aren't making a fist.

They had THOUSANDS of daily visits from Chinese before the breakout.I highly doubt they were able to do mass screening.
Hell, they're barely testing their own community now.
I'm still amazed that so many on here are so sure how the Japanese held this in check but medical "experts" and epidemiologist don't. LINK
For all we know they could have an outbreak.
