I'll explain so that you can comprehend. The steroid can make the animal feel good and mask its underlying physical issues for a few months. If the decision is to put the dog down now because of suffering or buy it cheaply a few more months of quality life, then most intelligent people are going to choose the latter.

How is giving a dog something that is causing organ failure providing quality of life? From what you are describing, you're not buying quality of life, you're masking the suffering so you can't see it. That's fricked up.
