What does my credit score mean in the

whole scheme of things?
I have (I think) a good but not spectacular credit score thus far and wondering if it's worth my time to take any action to try to improve it. I don't have any credit cards so I'm not sure how I have any credit history other than bills which I always pay on time.

Considering a person with 20 million in cash and no bad credit history could easily have a worse score than someone with no cash and 20,000 in debt...not much.

Does this have a big influence on what kind of financing rates I could negotiate on say a house or a car though?

But, it's a lot more important to a person with no cash. 20 mill couldn't care less.

It's nothing less than a scientific assessment of your value and worth as a human being, reduced to one easy-to-understand number.

I'm 28. I've never financed anything but may finance a car sometime in the near future (within the next year)
I might just pay cash though

It is a lifelong dream of mine to walk into an auto dealership with a suitcase full of $20s.

First, wait until they ask the ignorant question "what do you want your monthly payment to be?". And then open the suitcase and say "zero, bitch"

your credit score is your life

Get a credit card and build a little credit history. In some instances you can get better rates and such with a better credit score.

I think I'll just write a check. Saying "zero bitch" does sound appealing though.

Or you could pull up in an F-250 full of nickels. Make those mf'ers count it.

Not a hole lot. As long as it isn't bad it won't matter much one way or another.

sorry to break it to you , but you will not be able to finance a house or a car without a cosigner.....

I'm not in the lending business, but I imagine it would just mean needing a bigger down payment. With so many people getting home loans with less than 10% down in the last decade, I would think someone with no credit history, but no debt and a good employment record and a 20% downpayment would be just as or more appealing to lenders.
