Anyone play recently? Is it at least in decent condition?

Haven't played it in a while, but can guarantee you that your money is spent better elsewhere. It's gone way downhill and they're still charging their normal rates

Haven’t played since August. It was awful then. I told myself I wasn’t going to play it again. Drove by on Nicholson yesterday, and it had me thinking about trying it soon.

I played there yesterday for old time sake and it was so awful. The holes are barely numbered because most of the signs are broken. The greens were god awful. It was like putting on asphalt. Its sad because I used to love to play there.

That's damn shame.

Played out there a few works ago for the first time in probably a year. Seems like the course is only getting in worse and worse shape

I go to the range from time to time, but refuse to pay what they're asking for 18 holes. Place is a goat ranch. LSU should be ashamed of itself for allowing it to go downhill. Allegedly, they aren't closing it and they're trying to bring in someone to revive it.

It’s already getting better since the final decision to keep it open. Now they just need to get enough good weather to get the greens back growing. They are putting a lot of money into it with new equipment and carts

I’m glad they are, it’s a fun course and I think important for the students to have somewhere they can play. Plus it’s open so more fun if you spray and pray like me haha

They have an entire turf college. For the life of me, I don’t know why they can’t get them to manage the conditions.

Played on Saturday. It was the worst I have ever seen it. It may have been the worst course I've ever played. I wish I was exaggerating. Greens were dead, patchy and bumpy. Tee boxes were in horrible condition. There were a few you can see they've completely given up on. Fairways were covered in patches of crabgrass and ant mounds. Grass growing in the bunkers (which honestly have never been in decent shape as long as I've played that course).
They just let that entire course go. I won't be back anytime soon.

Students can play Webb or City Park easily.

Terrible decision. Baton Rouge area doesn’t need another shitty golf course. Students have option in City Park and Webb.

Played it last weekend and it is as bad as everyone is saying. Greens were embarrassingly bad.. small patches of crab grass sprouting up all over, along with giant dirt and dead patches. I played it once last July and it was bad then as well, but at least the greens were playable. They can’t get that place to drain. A couple inches of rain keeps that place wet and muddy for a week. There were a decent amount of people playing, but it was more of a trashy 30+ year old crowd than college crowd. Really is a shame. Was never in great shape when I was in college but I enjoyed playing it as often as I could. This is as bad as I’ve seen it.

Yes, people act like it is just a place for the college kids. Spoiled college kids don't want to play that dump. Webb and City Park are far better options for college kids.

Webb is a dump too, not as bad as LSU is now but terrible layout

Neither of those are better options for students.

I need to go play it one more time. Cut my teeth on the old front nine. Remember playing a round with Todd Walker and Jason Williams when I was 11-12 years old. Place used to be quite a nice course.

Yeh, but every student has a golf fee on their fee bill. It use to be $60 a semester when i was there. Multiply $60 x 30,000 students. That's alot of coin to have to forfeit if they close. Cheaper to let it go to shite and profit.

The school has stated in past that it loses over $200,000 a year on the course including what it gets from students in fees.
