This would just be a matter of policy at a private event, not a legal requirement. If I went to a gun show where the policy for admission was that I had to have a FFL run a NICS on a private sale that I wanted to conduct, and I chose not to do that, I am not breaking the law. They can kick me out and ban me from shows they put on in the future, but it’s no different than concealed carrying onto private property that posts a no firearms sign.
