We fish south of the felsental lock and dam right above the Louisiana line. We fish about 100 hooks are so and do real good every year. Middle of March to April we do real good. About 25 head a run

You can catch plenty catfish of Trot lines in the Ouachita but I think it’s pretty high right now.
Are any of the bean fields near the river flooded? We used to catch a bunch of cats, perch, carp, gasper goo, grenal, and bass tight-lining in the floodwater over them. So many that my dad would try to get us to leave by reminding us we'd have to clean the ones we wanted to keep. We kept the cats, perch and bass. Some days we'd bring home 60 to 70 fish.
This was in the late 70's or early 80's. Launched the boat on the river and made our way to the bean fields.
