Saw them in 1991 at lalalapooza.
That said, that was one hell of a good show. The flag moment helped define the band. I was so impressed, I thought Soundgarden had a tough act to follow.
Then Soundgarden came on, and I was gripping my toes to the turf I was so blown away.

Best of all, their first gig is at the Capitol 1 Center, you know, one of the biggest abusers of consumers with their shady arse practices and fine print loans and credit cards. Preying on college kids with the others.
RATM is as phony as their music.

Tom Morello is probably one of the best metal/fusion guitarists in my lifetime- IMO.
I may need to re-listen, especially some album cuts to see what you mean about Morello’s virtuosity. His solos are nothing but effects and riding the whammy bar like a surfboard...

The only tickets that the band has placed over $125 are charity tickets where the delta goes to local charities.

Now seeing this, it may have been lalapalooza and not Jazz Fest where I saw Rage because I also remember that guy running up on stage and ripping the flag off!
Zach D just sat there for a moment, squatted down on stage, dumbfounded (but trying to look like he was lost deep in thought).
But, unless ripping the upside down flag off the speaker was a usual occurrence at RATM shows, we were at the same show, which was 94 or 95.

Well, Like Bernie, I am sure they all just need another Water Front Villa - Dacha so they can spread their "Worker's Revolution" propaganda from the comfort of the Capitalism they obviously enjoy.

Fought the power by exchanging their “art” for money to an industry owned by Jewish billionaires. Good thing Green Day is still fighting the evil corporations.

He and Layne Staley are probably my two favorite rock vocalists. I wish those guys that formed Mad Season would have produced more than just the one album.

I never cared about the message and they put on a hell of a show. I think I paid $20 to see them in 96.

You gotta put Maynard up there as well... BTW, from the show:

Caught Temple of the Dog at MSG just a few months before Cornell passed. They covered some Mad Season, I thought it was the highlight of my 2016.
......that was Nov 7th, 2016
How wrong I was, because 24hrs later.....

I saw them 20 years ago in Nashville. Ticket prices were a lot cheaper back in 1999.
