I usually tip in cash. Have your $5 ready and she’ll appreciate it more than $7 on the digital credit card screen.

Also, I tend to over tip barbers hair cut people. Whatever they’re called.

want me to tip the garbage collectors too?

I had a high school friend whose dad would walk out and give his trash men each a bottle of Crown at Christmas time. I saw him do it one year and asked why as he was walking into his garage. He just said "You'd be surprised what they'll pick up for me no questions asked" and kept on walking by.

I usually WAY over tip. Had a gay dude that did an awesome job on my hair back in the day. He’d take about an hour start to finish, including shampoo and eyebrow wax. I think it was $45, but I’d give him $100. I could actually fall asleep in the chair while he was working. It was worth $400/year (haircut every 3 months) to get it done perfectly with zero sales pitch, no talking, just an hour of relaxation.

Nowadays, a good shampoo by a busty 40-something divorcée (at the new place I’ve found) is definitely worth some coin, though not as much. I think they charge $35 for everything. I’ll tip $10 to $15.

I’ve been wanting to try one of these places just for fun, sip on a bourbon while someone cuts my hair. It doesn’t sound so bad

My place has a stocked bar and a mini fridge wirh local craft beer. I usually go around lunch time so I can’t partake but a few months back my appt was at 4:30 and I had a couple while he was cutting. It takes him about 30-45 minutes depending if I’m getting the beard trimmed too. Nothing like a bourbon rocks then an IPA while getting a cut.

Also, I took my oldest son for a cut before Christmas. Mine was shaggy and in desperate need of a cut. But the usual place was closed and the only place open was a super cuts. The “stylist” had a ring of piercings around her lips and on her cheeks. I just got his cut and was honestly a little scared of what my hair would look like when she was done. My wife asked why I didn’t get mine done too and I told her about this Ursula looking chick with the piercings and she said she could put up with the shag until I could get back to my normal guy.

$0.

$20 for 15 minutes of work is more than I make hourly. He/she don't need no tip.

It’s interesting when you visit Europe and they don’t expect any tip and how gracious and grateful they are when you give them one.

I left a tip at a restaurant in Rome and they insisted I have a free shot of their house liquor before I left.

I don’t get cuts at trash arse chain joints anymore. They always frick up a relatively easy fade + something I won’t admit to as the downvotes will rain down for douche-Dom.

I see a real barber and he gets my hair the same way every time.

I tip him because he’s good at his job.

It doesn't sound so bad until the hair clippings go airborne and land in your drink.

It’s pretty easy to keep it under the cloth thing they put on you and time your sips.
Although I did manage one time to pull my drink out one time and knock a big clump of hair in my bourbon. Pissed me off when I took the sip and realized it. LOL

Damn! I am back, every 3 weeks. Mine is an old school barber. $15 cut, $20 out the door.

Tip the $5 in cash. They will appreciate it more. Its worth an about an extra $1 to them not having to claim taxes on it.

The haircut is $15. They whip that razor back and forth on my head and I get ingrown hairs half the time.

I tip $5. I don’t even know why. It’s half courtesy. Half being thankful they didn’t gap up my head.

I also go every two weeks. My hair is thick and I can’t stand it getting up around my ears and neck.

20% which is basically what you are tipping if the base cost is $22. Not sure why the frick there's an option for a $10 tip on a $22 hair cut.

Not a man but I’ll say this. I’ve always (last decade and a half) tipped 10-15% for massages and thought this was standard. My usual place now has suggested tipping guidelines around 30%. I feel a little bad but also a little confused.
