He's not head coach material. He'll be a defensive coordinator again within five years.

The Big 12 is changing rapidly.
Kansas State, Baylor, Texas, and Iowa St have implemented more balanced attacks, and are trying to play a more physical brand of football.
Aranda will be very successful if he can go into his lab and develop the perfect formula and balance that will keep Baylor a step ahead of the rest of the conference as it evolves.

And the few times he has been quoted it is a rambling incoherent mess
I have the exact opposite opinion. Every time I have heard him speak it has come off as very cerebral and well thought out.

Him not being a big fan of recruiting is a rant myth. Some of y’all fall for the dumbest shite in here and take it as gospel.

Hope you are wrong... but I agree that he will struggle. Baylor is in a great state for athletes. At least fifth or sixth In pecking order of recruit preference.

He’s gonna do well. Wouldn’t be surprised if he replaced O in 5 years if O were to retire.

He will do as good as you can at Baylor.
They have a lot of money and they are committed to building a strong program. They were one win away from the playoffs this year. I think Aranda will continue to build them into a stronger program

He doesn’t have the personality to be a head coach in college. He hates recruiting. Baylor doesn’t have a lot of history and Waco doesn’t appeal to big time recruits. Baylor needs a big personality as head coach to attract recruits. I see a lot of average in Baylor’s future.

Better than Herman

The big 12 is about offense and he knows nothing about offense
There are a few bad takes in this thread.
Rhule, the guy that Aranda is replacing was a defensive guy himself. I live in big 12 country so keep up with whats happening. Baylor this year scared the other Big 12 coaches because of the defense Rhule built.
They were ok on offense but the reason they went 11-3 and finished 2nd in the Big 12 was because the defense was able to stop Big 12 offenses enough to win. (also their schedule was easy)
If Aranda keeps the defensive progressing and hires a decent o coordinator he can have success at Baylor. Obviously he wont have the same talent as he has at LSU, but he will be able to recruit plenty of talent to win in the Big 12.
Briles built Baylor by taking questionable guys and letting them run wild. Rhule cleaned it up and won on good defense and discipline. Aranda will keep the discipline and continue Baylor's winning ways.

Depends on the players he can get to go to Baylor. A defensive mind in the Big 12 is gonna be fun to watch. I bet OU is crapping their panties right now.

He gets a good OC and he will have a good tenure there. Imagine if he takes Herman down and we also do next year

Not a fan. He will do OK as long as he doesn't coach the DEFENSE!!

But will he beat Kansas?
Posted on 1/17/20 at 7:10 pm to CatsGoneWild
False. He studied offense before he was a defensive guy. Do your research

Aranda’s endpoint was always as an NFL DC in my mind. That said, I’m sure he’ll do fine if he has solid coordinators.

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger. He left to improve himself,
not because of LSU. I wish him well and look forward to him
taking on Ok.
