It's always liquor or wine, in my experience with people in my family or close friends who are dead from alcohol, always liquor. Never beer.

Sure you can get fat and unhealthy and die younger from general bad health, if you drink too much beer.

But I'm talking about AA meeting shite, where people are all kinds of fricked up, six ways from Sunday.

It's never from beer, in my experience.

What say the professional alkies of the OT?

Very common. It’s hard to get alcohol poisoning from beer, but it’s not difficult to be a legit alcoholic on it.

Plenty of alcoholics stick to beer, they just don’t end up in hospitals overnight from it

Beer’s got alcohol in it right? That’s what does the killing.

You can die of cirrhosis at 50 from drinking beer just like any other alcohol. I’ve seen it, trust me. If you’re telling yourself you’re OK just because you drink two six-packs a day instead of a liter of vodka, you’re in denial.

I homebrew my beer, and prefer it to be about 4-5% ABV with flavor and hops. I actually have lost weight since it's so much work cleaning kegs and brewing. I once wanted to have my own brewery but hell na anymore. Too much cleaning!

Check out the FBD thread on the food board if you want to see some beercoholics.

Maybe from secondary morbid obesity associated with beer drinking.

Okay, so what about a half pint of whiskey and a couple of tall boys most days of the week? Where does that get me? I stay sober one or two days a week sometimes.

Who has enough time to drink a 12 pack a night? I’m sure it could be done but I don’t see that killing someone. It definitely wouldn’t be healthy.

I bet that was hell of a hangover. Or were you dead through the hangover, and came back to feeling nice?

Friend of mine is a recovering alcoholic and he just drank beer. His life wasn’t really out of control though, and he didn’t drink every day. He just couldn’t stop when he’d start. He probably drank 5 nights a week and when he drank he’d go though 12-24 Miller Lites in one night.

I don’t know that I ever saw him drink liquor or wine.
