A) it is laid out in front of the recruit before he commits. "Don't commit if you can't abide by that rule". Recruit is invited to 'get it out of his system' before committing. I.e., a commitment is a true commitment so be sure.

B) all recruits. no exceptions, blue chip or not. Makes it easier to enforce.

C) It's based on a principle, not arbitrary rules that only benefit Clemson. The principle is a commitment is a commitment, for both of us. Don't make it lightly, follow our conditions and you are guaranteed your spot (no 'processing'). Both sides have conditions. Clemson makes this their version of a LOI where both are truly committed.

One thing I don't see mentioned here about their conditions/rules is regarding ESD. That's also a condition... if you can sign early, you do. If you chose not to that's an indicator you aren't truly committed.

kind of hate this tbh. If I had a school tell me this I would prolong my decision and take it as a turnoff to some degree. But I’m the kind that would stick to my word if I did commit. My 2 cents

Pretty sure they are talking about guys already committed. I never understood why a guy would commit, theeeeen go on visits to other places. If you aren't sure, or want to see other places for free, then do it before you commit.

The flip side is if your commitment is accepted then that needs to be honored also correct?

100%. You can't tell a kid not to play games if you, the adult, are doing the same thing. If a guy isn't a sure take, let him know in some way so he can also keep his options open.

we need to take the best 25 we can get and not put any arbitrary rules on ourselves that would hinder that objective. At least at this time. Maybe at some point in the future we could do that.

I like it! Once you've committed to us shut it down. Wanna take all your visits and look around fine commit to us when your done and 100% locked in.

I’d love if we could do this too, but I don’t think it’s Oeaux’s brand. He’s more of a player’s coach

Kind of a sleazy but no rule against it.

What makes this sleazy?

The recruit can DE-commit at anytime they like and take whatever visits they want. Dabo’s policy puts a premium on the word COMMITMENT.

My Opinion: Clemson wouldn’t pull a 5 stars offer if they visited elsewhere.

I like what Urban Meyer said, he said on an Interview that if a kid changes his mind then let him go.

the way it is may be a bit messy at times and make some of those that watch recruiting uncomfortable, but it works .

We can and we should, problem with those ultimatums is following thru with them! If you make the ultimatum and your top 5* QB commitment who is ranked #5 in the country and a generational type of QB takes a visit to your arch rival, are you going to pull his commitment? Because that is what you are supposed to do!

The way to fuk Clemson and Dabo is for South Carolina to recruit better. USCe needs to step the hell up.

Because he didn't get his program going by catering to 5-stars. His scouting has been top-notch and he's been able to find multiple gems that weren't as highly recruited and thus didn't have the options that 5 stars have.

Now that he's on top the culture has been established.

Dabo is really charismatic and they have developed a really good brand there. That shite wouldn't work in the SEC. Too many rivals going after the same kids

Another way to stop all these games is for the NCAA to allow recruits to sign LOI at ANY TIME within 6 months of national signing day. That way both the recruit and the school know exactly where they stand. The recruit can take all his visits but once you sign you’re done. Also, it would stop the practice of schools “processing” players because if they accept the LOI they are locked in as well.

I've always thought that if they are eligible to officially receive an offer, they should be eligible to accept an offer, which would be by signing a LOI.

Realistically that wouldn't work because they can receive written offers as soon as they become seniors. But in a common sense way, it makes sense. It would also aggravate coaches to no end. Just like when the MLB draft happens while we're on the field in Omaha.

So the realistic 'sign LOI anytime' should be immediately following that recruits last game at the HS level. To me that makes even more sense.
