I took down my pole beans this weekend because they were out of control and I'm tired of shelling butter beans. I might go ahead and replant some snap beans on the trellis. Also finally had the heart to cut down the Cherokee Purples. They quit producing and most of the vine was brown, but them made so much this year I had a hard time giving up on them. the beefsteak, on the other hand, are still putting on fruit. I'll likely start looking around for my broccoli plants this week.

That's how I'm starting to feel about my Japanese Yard Long beans on one of my trellises. I've probably picked about 2000 of them since they started coming in and I've got all I need canned or in the freezer and most of my neighbors are not wanting any more of them.

I'm averaging about 70 beans a day and they are in the 20-24 inch range when picked.
