LSU needs to focus more on STEM, getting the smartest kids into the school, keeping those kids in Louisiana post graduation, while embracing things that donors like (Greek system and athletics).

Diversity rankings do not fricking matter. They just don't. You need two things to be a successful university, smarter kids and more money.

Most of the state's brightest are not probably going to LSU. If they do, I am sure they left to chase Texas money.

I hear what you are saying and agree with the premise, but brain drain in Louisiana has been a problem for ages

Spot on.

Diversity of THOUGHT is what matters. Skin color, nationality, and gender are useless metrics. Being obsessed with meaningless biological statistics is 1/2 of what’s wrong with academia.

Which makes me wonder. All those people who became indignant over donating to the LSU Foundation because "I refuse to give money to liberal F. King." Now that he's gone, will they finally give to the university they claim to love? Or will they make up another excuse?
