It’s good to have (obviously) but you can easily make up for a lower level match in additional salary or other benefits.

It's hard to make up the long term protection from the capital gains tax, though.

No 401k here but I do have a taxable brokerage account and CDs.

No tax deferment but also no penalty if I retire early and want to touch the funds

7% on base and bonus. Also get 10% profit share on base and bonus to the 401k. So a total of 17%

anyone can backdoor a roth regardless of income. get you a new finance guy if they don't know this

as for the original question. My company offers free coffee as long as we contribute to making it. They also match up to 3% of my contribution to 401k

It's mind blowing that people can make enough money to exceed Roth limits and not know how to do backdoor Roths.

100% of the max you can put in annually. My company’s retirement plan is legit.

50 cents on the dollar, no limit up to the federal maximum. Vests each year, plus profit sharing into the 401K on a vesting schedule. the profit sharing is around 4% each year. Our salaries are in the middle-lower middle of our industry but benefits are unlike any I've ever seen.

6% 100% match

The next 6% 50% match

If you contribute 12% the company basically match’s 9% $ for $.

Everyone please make sure you are hitting the 401k max every year, you will regret it once you get older. I’m 32 and have coworkers in their mid 40’s that don’t have what I do in my 401k. That’s not a subtle brag at all, it’s just a sad thing. Retirement should be a goal one looks forward to.

That’s perfect as long as you don’t get divorced, 401K gets cleaned out and you have to start over in your 40’s.

we do a pension instead of 401k.
the company funds each employee's pension account up to 25% of their salary each year. each employee then is free to fund their own IRA up to the yearly limit

we basically force everyone to save for retirement

100% up to 6% of my salary. Plus up to 3% in profit sharing.

Medical is cheap as well.

Vacation could be better.
