I can't believe I actually agree with Amash.

The Patriot Act is an affront to our Republic.

Some things I'm seeing around the internet suggest that Horowitz (or someone) is holding up the IG report until this is reauthorized.
If that is true, if they are leveraging the IG report to reauthorize the IC spying powers, then Horowitz's report is a giant pile of shite.

The Patriot Act is the beast. Cut it's head off and the deep state is weakened tremendously. Then all the nasty Obama/Bush bureaucrats and players just need removed. Look for a new cryptic puzzled message to say that the Patriot Act is needed until 2020 to get them all, trust the plan.
What do I win?
What do I win?

It looks like it has already passed or will soon. Can anyone find the House short term spending bill continuing resolution? They have two shits to give. The FISA abuse report won't stop it either. Graham will have Horowitz tell us about sensitivity training. Everyone always protects the patriot act accept a few lone voices.

Shocked about Amash being over the target.

It would suggest that DOJ is still in the Deep state pocket. Knowing Horowitz's report is going to be a Comey/Hilary type situation and leveraging it to reauthorize the Patriot Act before republicans know what hits them.
That's called a win/win.

Well yeah. If there's one thing both sides can agree on, it's destroying the 4th amendment.

Amash always hated the patriot act. Amash blamed Trump because the Patriot act was renewed in 2017. Does POTUS really have any say over this-each President stands by the patriot act and salutes it under the guise of national security.
I wonder what the bureaucrats (and yes even corrupt JCS) running things show/tell POTUS to always keep the patriot act for Obama/Brennan's oppo research & the deep State uniparty (that think they are so much smarter then deplorables?) Lee is brilliant regardless of his politics; and has always spoken out.
It seems no one has to really be brave and speak out...
BOOM date extended, done.
This is some sneaky convoluted stuff

The problem is that it really does help the IC keep Americans safe.
But this is one of those "trading freedom for security" things the founding fathers warned us about.
I understand why presidents are hesitant to rescind it. The second that people die and the IC comes out and says "If we had the Patriot Act we could have prevented this" a president would be judged harshly.

Yah the ideal time for Trump to fight this would definitely not be 11 months from the start of early voting

As I understand it, the PA gives Intel the ability to listen in on communications that are assumed (by Law) to be private. Protections for abuse were supposedly installed in the process to cull out the truly bad actors like Narco-Gangs, Terrorists and Nation/States (China, North Korea, Iran, Russia, et al) who threaten us.
That is a very powerful and efficient tool to maintain our security. Our Adversaries will use it, it we don't.
So, damned if we do...damned if we don't.
The problem is not that we are going to lose our Freedom...it's inevitable that we will. In fact, those who trumpet the former form of Constitutional Freedom that we have long enjoyed, will be the ones to suspend it. And it's not because of the 'Mechanism'...it's because near 50% of our Electorate now embraces Global Authoritarian Socialist Ideology (Transnational Progressivism).
IMO, the REJECTION and NULLIFICATION of Democracy (pure version/"mob rule") is the 'elephant in the room'. Either the 'elephant' leaves the room...or it don't.

The elephant in the room is the bureaucrats and spy agencies ran our govt with uniparty Presidents they chose.
Now that the curtain is fully pulled back, it won't be stopped until they are arrested. Even then it is temporary (SEE Reagan)
Did Dubya create the PA baton to pass to Obama all in the name of marxist globalism?

Already called Graves’ office to urge him to vote no.

Glad that you took the time to do that but I think it is a done deal slipped into a continuing resolution on funding.

Re: QAnon
FISA patriot act is continuing with the GOPe/dem help to catch all the lying crooked POS of the Obama admin that entrapped Trump and started a coup. I thought Q said, 'we have it all'? So why would FISA going both ways be still needed?

Trump could veto it and tell those bastards to start from scratch.
