It will be Brennan for 2yrs, with INSANE STATS, and who knows from there

All I'm saying is that TJ could show up at LSU and stun people. No one knows. What we do know is that the young man has immense talent when it comes to throwing the ball. He has Jamarcus Russell physical talent with a better head on his shoulders and most likely a hell of a lot better work ethic. You don't turn away that type of talent.
As for making some sort of judgement based on who he is playing with in high school, that's a bit foolish in this case. If he were playing at IMG or some other elite high school team with DI talent, then that would be different. He's playing with young men that won't even get community college scholarships. Every clip I've seen of him is him getting pressured from the moment the ball is snapped. Who's going to look good at QB with that sort of pressure? A RB playing QB? Maybe.
And again, I love Myles Brennan. I'm just annoyed with people chitting on our recruits.

He's not going to become an accurate QB over night, he's going to need developing there. Hank Tierney is a great all time coach but to think Finley got proper development as a passer from a lifetime veer coach with a very bad OL and usually weak receivers is probably a stretch.

That close to Amite and he drives to BR to get his hair cut?

He had Trey Willie as his QB coach for two years, who started at QB for Hal Mumme and is pretty widely respected all over the Northshore as a great coach.
Not trying to argue with you, but he had much better coaching than most people will give him credit for.

And for the record
Look at Mississippi HS records before posting shite on Brennan dude.
We need the best QB that allows LSU to win. The days of just plugging someone in that position because he loves LSU or is from Louisiana is over. We need the best we can get at that position if LSU wants to be/ stay an elite team.
I’m not saying TJ can’t be that guy, but right now TJ isn’t that guy.
Other attributes are accuracy, reading defenses and going through progressions without panicking.
I hope TJ gets better and balls out, but right now he’s not Joe Burrow

That's great, and he's progressed, but does anyone think he can really come in and run our offense from Day 1? It would likely be a disaster. He just needs time, he has the tools you want, he's just not mechanically there yet. Jamarcus Russell, probably his closest comparison pure talent wise, wouldn't have come in and done well from day 1 here. He redshirted, started in year 2, was pretty average, then by year 3 made a huge leap.
Guys who have decent but not eye popping stats in high school usually dont translate immediately over to college. Even guys who DO have huge stats dont always translate over immediately either, but generally speaking those guys have a better shot immediately translating vs. guys who need a bit more polish.

Ensminger told Coach Hank that he is the smartest X and O quarterback that he has recruited in a long time. Enrolling early will give him time to learn the system. He will practice with the team for the bowl games.
Also, He threw for 312 yards against a talented Destrehan team in the playoffs while running for his life the whole game. O-Line gave up 9 sacks. It wasnt from holding the ball, the D ends were meeting at the QB

You guys are missing my point. I'm not arguing that TJ will start as a freshman. I simply made that statement of possibility to point out that no one knows what he may do. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No.
You guys have to remember that I responded to a poster who suggested that LSU part ways with TJ. My response is that that suggestion is unwise. The young man is very talented and when combined with excellent coaching and excellent talent at LSU he may very well exceed whatever expectations people have of him.
I feel the same way about Max Johnson. A big, athletic kid with a pedigree. That young man could show up and impress the coaches.
I feel like LSU could sign a young Kellen Moore and people would complain that he's not 6'3"+ and 200+ lbs and can't throw it the length of the field. Are people just star gazing on here?
LSU may be a program, similar to Oklahoma, in which it doesn't particularly matter who they get at QB because they will develop the prospect and get great production. We don't know.
I mean, LSU took Raydarious Jones last year b/c they want to work with him and see if he can develop into an elite cornerback. If you saw Raydar attempt to play CB in a camp setting before his senior year, then you saw him struggle mightily doing it. What's the difference with TJ? At least that guy is playing QB and the evaluation on him is easy - big kid, big arm, he can sling it, and he's not a douche bag.
I don't have any problem with LSU signing that young man and wanting to see if he they can develop him. There's been plenty of high four star and five star prospects that haven't panned out.

Dont get me wrong, I've been a big proponent Finley has had very little help at Ponch and even said he should go to IMG this season, but the fact he has very little help is what will hold him back from playing (VERY) early in college too IMO. He just has a lot of developing to do overall between mechanics, making progressions and not 100% just relying on his arm to get the ball to where he's trying to get it too.
Like I said about Jamarcus, if he came in and won the job in 2014 from day 1, it likely would've looked real bad. He redshirted, progressed, started in 2015 as a redshirt freshman and showed some flashes but also still had some struggles and had an average season. He comes back his redshirt sophomore year and blows away everyone with a huge season and huge progression from his first day on campus.

I agree with you. Having said that, why do we have people on here suggesting that LSU should cut bait with the young man? Can that poster see the future? It's like he/she already knows TJ is going to suck in college. It's ridiculous. If TJ was playing at IMG and stinking it up, then I would have some concern. But he isn't playing with ten other guys on offense who are all going to a power five program.

Because he's not throwing at 60%+ with 3000+ yards 30+ TD to next to no picks.
It is what it is. Many folks wont give any credence to the fact he plays for a pretty bad team and has to carry them mostly as a result. Ponch is starting 7 sophomores on OFFENSE alone on a varsity football team in Louisiana AAAAA football. If that doesnt say where they are at I'm not sure how else you explain to them Finley should be given a LITTLE slack compared to guys who play on teams loaded with talent and have it easy. The deck of cards was never stacked in Finley's favor here. After basically willing Ponch to the playoffs, they got Destrehan in the 1st round and this pretty much sums things up:
quote:
Finley threw interceptions on two of his first three passes, had to cover a bad snap and saw a wide receiver jump way offsides. Eventually he settled down to pass for 303 yards and two touchdowns, plus he ran for two. But he was sacked 10 times by the Destrehan defense.
LINK
Shows the resiliency Finley has, at least. No time to throw the ball, threw 2 picks right out the gate, but still almost made it a football game cutting it to 34-20 in early 4th quarter despite being down 27-0 at halftime to a vastly superior team overall in Destrehan.

Joe burrow has provided the perfect template for what kind of QB we need in this offense. He can make pre-snap reads, is extremely accurate, and can move around in the pocket. We need to stick as close to this mold as possible. Pure physical talent is not even close to what makes joe so successful. (I am not trying to say that Finley can not be that guy)

I'm not saying he is gonna come in here and take the job, but it sure seems to me the kids that he is throwing to on his team are dropping passes all over the field. He definitely appears to have the arm strength and size. I'll give you the downvote you requested for suggesting he go elsewhere.

I think Caleb Williams is amazing but Brennan is going to have to suck pretty bad for Williams to take the job from a returning starter 5th year senior, unless of course Brennan does unreal and goes pro.

Your timing/recollection is a bit off here.
2003 = redshirt
2004 = RS FR/ part time starter in mix with Randall
2005 = SO solid season
2006 = JR impressed to elite level
meanwhile Flynn came in the same class, saw limited mop up & injury fill-in duty. Then led 2007 team to BCS natty.
