Yikes. I think he’ll come around but that’s atrocious. Haven’t watched many games. Is he missing good looks? Bad shot selection?

I think he’s just pressing, he’ll settle eventually.

He couldn't miss in summer league and preseason so it's gotta be psychological.

Bad shot selection mostly
Although he has had a couple wide open shots he missed too
Gotta be a mental thing with him

What about 36% w twice the attempts

It’s a different game with a different level of defense and effort in the regular season.
This is pretty damn common for shooters and scorers as rookies.
At some point, he may need to hit the bench so he can see the game for awhile and then be slowly worked back in as he improves in practice.

And Frank Jackson is playing well. I think NAW has been getting too many minutes.

[Edit: I got some stats wrong here, so I fixed this.]
Y'all must've been watching completely different games than I've been watching.
NAW leads the team and, among players with at least 50 minutes played, is 11th in the NBA right now in assists per minute. His ball movement makes the offense flow and the entire team better. He's the only one on the team other than Ingram (and Zion, of course) who can consistently break his man down and penetrate into the lane.
That's why, even with his poor shooting, he still has a 2.5 positive +/= rating. The team is better with him on the floor than without him.
Yes, since the start of the regular season, his shot hasn't been falling. He shot 47% from 3 in the preseason, though, so we know that he can shoot. Sometimes, shooters can be streaky, and it's got to be a little unnerving the first time that you're facing guys like Chris Paul and James Harden, whom NAW has probably admired all his life. The outside shooting will come.
I'm slightly more concerned by the fact that his shots at the rim aren't falling, but that problem is made worse by Okafor being on the floor and being unable to flush his misses. You saw what Jaxson did to one of NAW's misses yesterday, and Zion is going to gobble those up when he gets back.

I’m not a big fan of using the +/- system 6 games into the season to value a player. NAW has done some things well, but more things badly compared to what we know (or think) he can do compared to summer league and preseason. He has not been great, and neither has Kenrich, yet they have the best +/- on our team.
The fact is, our bench is better than most team’s benches, and our starters have been getting killed by other starters. Saying “our team is better with him on the floor” at this point is flat wrong. That’s like saying Ingram has been playing poorly and making our team worse because his +/- is -5.8. NAW benefitted +/- wise a lot from one quarter, when him and Hayes played well against the warriors scrubs

It called bring a rookie guard when the games actually matter.
Teams are playing harder.
He's going against more starting unit guys, as opposed to end of the bench guys.
He seems to be playing too fast and over penerating, which is common for rookie guards.

I think you forgot how difficult it is to make the all star team in the nba. Especially in the west. Now I know you’re talking in the future but I don’t ever see him being an all star. Maybe a very good starter tho

He's hardly taking bad shots. He's just missing everything. He needs to work for easier shots. Get to the rim. Get fouled. Make some FTs and get into a rhythm.
He's handling the ball very well and he's going up against some tough offensive players. His breakout game will come.

If jackson is all that there is not much pt for naw.
Tight.
And sure the level of play is better in reg season.

NAW and Frank play different positions and aren't competing for minutes. In fact, a lot of Frank's points have come on assists by NAW. The two of them work really well together.

Game just needs to slow down for him. He’s a rook after all. Not many rooks don’t struggle their first year. He’ll put it together eventually. Patience, patience.
He’s still doing good things on the court out there. Wait until he pulls it together.

Honestly, he needs to keep shooting. Gotta shoot his way out of the slump. You develop him and take all the bad while he’s figuring it out. You let NAW play freely and develop for the long game. Can’t be messing with his head this early in his career. His supreme confidence will be valuable on the back half of the season when you absolutely need him to play valuable minutes to help make a playoff push. I’m not worried about him unless he starts showing poor body language or play with low confidence.

If that's true then that's a good thing obviously, but that really isnt the main gripe. He's shooting %25 from the field and his shot selection has been pretty poor.
I really like him. But I'm of the opinion that his minutes need to be reduced a bit until he shows he can take good shots. That FG% isnt going to get much better taking the same type of shots he's taking now. He's got Curry syndrome. He needs to earn the minutes he was getting.

Ugh. Hopefully there are some other guys he admired more
