Contrarian take: Zion will be less injury-prone than other NBA big men

For many NBA bigs, they have real problems because their legs are just too long, which lead to more problems with them twisting and bending in ways that they should not.

It is a fact that players over 7' are more likely to have leg injuries and shorter careers. Zion's low center of gravity and lower-body strength will actually give him more stability.

In the long term, I'm more worried about Jaxson's legs than I am Zion's.

I think Embiid will have way more problems than Zion. ESPN, Twitter, etc are unbearable because he’s overweight, and he’s the next Oden, etc etc

Embiid didn’t play his rookie year, played only 31 games his second year, and has more serious knee injuries going forward. Crickets.

Yes. Embiid is probably the league's best big man, and yeah, his career is likely going to be marked with injury a lot more than Zion's. But I was really talking about guys like Porzingis, though, who weighs only 220 pounds, which means that he lacks the leg muscle that Zion has -- and surrounding muscles are what provide stability.

Embiid injury concerns are always being talked about.

Are they talked about anywhere close to the shite we are getting with Zion? You’d think he will never play more than 20 career games the way people are talking

Yes, they talked about Embiid not even ever playing at one point. There were plenty of talk about Embiid’s injuries. The talks will die down once teams start playing real games and the focus can be on a bunch of other players.

Yes, they were talked about much, much more at this same point in Embiid's career.

he’s lost 20 lbs apparently this offseason. Curious to see if that helps him a bit through the longevity of the season
