What One Thing Did Peter Jackson Get Most Wrong? (LotR or Hobbit)

Your opinion? I am not asking about broad principles (e.g. too much CGi), but rather about individual details (e.g. Gimli’s armor).
For me, the question can be answered with one word… Orcs.
Jackson orcs bear absolutely no resemblance to Tolkien orcs, regardless of whether we are talking about the strange little goblin things in the Hobbit, their scrotum-chinned king, the Uruk Hai, the Mordor orcs, the Moria orcs or any other orc seen anywhere in any of the films.
Jackson completely changed the very nature of orcs into creatures that were both larger and stronger than Men. In Tolkien, the Uruk Hai of Saruman were the only orcs that even approached the size of Men.

I don't see that as wrong, that's my favorite part
Tolkien orcs look horrible

I think the biggest thing Jackson got wrong was the over abundance of CGI in the Hobbit trilogy. It came off way too cartoonish.
The Lord of the Rings blended miniatures, CGI, and real stuntmen almost seamlessly. The battles had a sense of realism and scale to them as a result.

Naming the second movie after the dragon you don’t fight until movie three.

The entire Hobbit trilogy.
It was bad from start to finish and had very few redeeming qualities.

This, and I don't think it's close. It always boggles me when 15 year old movies look better and are a less jarring experience than new releases.

The very beginning of "the hobbit" was good.
Maybe 30-40 mins

I only watched the first one and I made an improvement edit on the spot - just have the "My precious" scene with Gollum and Bilbo - have occasional interruptions of sound from the battle in the goblin city, and then have Bilbo come outside and see the Dwarves all fricked up - dented helmets, bruised, dirty, arms in slings, broken weapons, etc., and say, "What happened to you guys?"
Makes the movie cheaper and better. Win-win.

I love all 6 movies, and watch them often, but I’ll agree with this. Awful.

He got more wrong than right with the Hobbit movies. It would be difficult to pick the worst.

It had the feel of a series made because it had to be made. When you see the behind the scenes footage of PJ during the making of the movie he always looks like he just had to put a beloved family pet to sleep and now he's trying to figure out how to tell his kids.

LOTR was unforgettable. The Hobbit is forgettable.

The love story between the dwarf and elf.

Meh, that's the single worst part of the books. It's incredibly boring.

I think this is the worst too because it's not in the book. The source material is fine, no need to add a romance.

This is up there.
Also- adding and featuring Legolas.
The addition and destruction of Radagast's character. He was an Istari; even a lesser one is powerful as hell.
The Sauron showdown. Granted, they wanted to show off stuff, but the entire point of LOTR is that everyone thinks Sauron is long gone from Middle Earth.
The pitiful attempt to show Beorn.

LOTR was a dream project for Jackson. He spent years(even before he got the project green lit) perfecting his vision for these films. He was never supposed to be as much involved with The Hobbit movies as he was. But when Guillermo del Toro dropped out, the movies were kind of forced upon him. With LOTR, he had years, Hobbit he only had months to put something together.

Making the Hobbit three movies. It's funny because I always thought the hobbit was a better book than the trilogy and Jackson switched them when making the movies.
But since you wanted details I thought Smaug was too slender of a dragon I always pictured him as so massive as to be awestruck for anyone gazing at him. He was thought of as a entity that could rival Sauron and they made his death so quick at beginning of movie three without explaining the one weakness point.
