Lately with my work, I have frequently found myself in that area for lunch and dinner. There is so much there, and I don't want to waste a meal on something mediocre. What are your recommendations?

What area? Magazine runs from the Zoo to the CBD.

Tito's Ceviche is a sleeper, give it a try.

Close to Audubon: Avo, Saba and Bistro Daisy (only open for dinner)
Near Napoleon: La Petite Grocery, Shaya, Saffron, Casamentos
Near Louisiana Ave: Lilette, Cavan, Mahoneys, Vintage Coquette
Once you start getting into the CBD, there are a bunch of places all in a few blocks of one another

If you want to venture slightly off Magazine I'd check out Costera

Adding some lunch places:
Guy's Poboys
Stein's Deli
Pizza Domenica

I'm never able to go anywhere for lunch during the week so I definitely overlooked some.

Had dinner recently at Costera. Was excellent.

Went this weekend and it was fantastic. Tuna and scallops were the standout dishes but everything was great. Good wines by the glass and great atmosphere.

I just found the prices seemed really high for the food. I'm not one to complain about prices either.

Really. Wife and I split 5 plates and we each had two glasses of wine and I got out of there for $100. That's not too bad.

Looked at the transaction. Was 229 after tax/tip. Sure it included a several drinks.
Wasn't like we ordered any different, just seemed expensive for what it was.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Gris Gris. That’s my favorite place on Magaxine at the moment.

ETA: I’ll add Mayas as another underrated place no one talks about.

Gris Gris has been great both times I have gone.
Going to be cool soon so Nomiya for ramen.
Bordeaux has a good looking lunch menu, check the weather first.
Guys for a poboy, they take plastic now.
La Boulangerie has been having some damn good lunch sandwiches/specials now that Link has them. Stuff like herbed roasted lamb shank sandwich.
Red Dog Diner
Thalia for dinner
LPG, lunch or dinner.
Check for popups too. Yinzer Cheesesteaks at Rendezvous on Mon/Tues and Shank has been doing popups at Barrelproof that are killer.
