Nebraska blows, that win was not impressive at all. 4-8 team last year...
I don't think Nebraska is bad. I think they are average, but not bad. Martinez was averaging over 260 passing per game (320 total yards and 2.5 total TDs per game) before OSU. Nebraska was averaging 38 points per game. Honestly when I watched the game I saw a QB trying to do too much in a game and resulted in mistake after mistake. They'll finish 8-4 this year.
Ohio St's defense has gotten much better this year. Last year Nebraska had almost the same team but younger. Martinez as a true freshman completed 66% with 266 yards 1 TD and 72 yards with 2 TDs. He didn't turn the ball over at all. Ohio St gave up 31 last year to them, 28 to TCU, 49 to Purdue, and 51 to Maryland.

Texas boat races NEB. No doubt. NEB is equivalent to S.C. in the SEC
South Carolina would demolish Nebraska in a game. Nebraska has beaten nobody. They went 4-8 last season and are 3-2 this season. One of their wins was a game against Illinois that they were extremely close to losing. South Carolina is a much better team.

Their win at Nebraska was impressive. Not that difficult to grasp
you mean the Nebraska team that was 3-1 and had lost to the only possible decent team they had played.. Colorado.

It is not regional bias per se. It is anti-conference bias. Poll voters don't want to put too many teams from one conference in the top four. I'm actually surprised UGA is still in there and hasn't been jumped by another team outside the SEC.
not even that...
It is NOT about THE BEST TEAMS, it is about $$$$ and those voting want all areas represented.
We have gone from the best 4 teams to the likely best teams as long as MOST major conferences are represented.

8 of the top 11 are southerners

Ohio State has what looks to be a much better defense and at least as good of an offense as LSU’s at this point. I have absolutely no problem with them being up there.

I don’t worry about polls. We have a playoff system now.

It’s all about generating an interest. If you don’t include teams from up north and out west then you lose those audiences and the TV ratings go down. It’s always been this way. That’s why they are propping up Wisconsin and Penn State. It’s all about the money. When you only have southern schools, ratings suffer. They want to generate the biggest viewing audience possible.

Agree, BUT should championships not be about "the best"...
this is a version of "everyone gets a trophy" ....for the sake of money IMO.

I don’t think that win was very impressive. Nebraska isn’t good. They tried to hype the game but that was a below average Nebraska team.

JFC............. you're worried about this in week 5 when the polls are meaningless?
Posted on 10/1/19 at 7:41 am to SouthdownsTiger4178
OSU looks like the better team. At least as of now.

Recency Bias.
Just wait til LSU wallops Florida and see where LSU is in the initial CFP rankings.

What a ridiculous take
So unless the playoffs are 4 SEC teams then it’s a participation trophy?

they slaughtered Nebraska
Personally I don’t care where we’re at in the polls, but this is retarded. Nebraska is a terrible football team. They finished 4-8 last season. They were 2-2 before OSU with wins over South Alabama and Northern Illinois. Ohio St has wins over FAU, Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami (OH), & Nebraska. Of those teams, who would pose a challenge to any team in the top 10? Ohio St has 5 rent-a-wins. The only two teams on their schedule that’s worth a frick are Wisconsin & Penn St.

I agree with you 100 percent. There is how it should be and how it actually is. It’s all about the money.
Ohio State is a great team. Who knows they may be one of the best teams in the nation. You have seen the QB talent they are putting out there. We were the prime beneficiary of that developed talent. We got Joe Burrow.
It’s all about eyeballs. For college football to generate a max profit, you need more participation from schools that aren’t in the south.
